Role Summary/Purpose

The Optimization Engineer will be part of the Application Engineering team delivering software solutions in Energy Market and Smart Grid areas. S/He will be in charge of implementing advanced optimization-based applications for MMS (Market Management System) and DERMS (Distributed Energy Resources Management System); which includes functional design, software design, development, testing, application integration and tuning.
Essential Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of new functionality in optimization-based software for Market Management Systems and Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems. 

• Technical lead on specification, design, development, implementation, tuning and maintenance software applications. 
• Accountable for tasks implementation planning in his/her scope of the project, progress monitoring and CTC (cost to complete) evaluation. 
• Accountable for regular updates to the project Delivery Manager on progress status, budget consumption, risks evaluation and associated mitigation plan. 
• Interface and develop relationships with customers and partners on general and specific areas of functional expertise. 
• Ensure that quality assurance standards and procedures are followed in all aspects of the implementation. 

• Assist Tendering/Sales/Marketing with major technical strategy development and deployment 
• Provide marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to customers

Qualifications/Requirements

• Power system engineering or software engineering with deep knowledge of the optimization (operational research) domain and good electrotechnical basis – PhD or Master degree; 
• Proven experience in the implementation of software solutions including optimization components or in Energy Market domain; 
• Good knowledge on mathematical modeling principles of optimization problems (LP, MIP, QP); 
• Good knowledge of mathematical modeling environments/tools (AIMMS, AMPL, GAMS); 
• Good knowledge of the energy market domain (flow-based market coupling, balancing market) strongly appreciated; 
• Good business knowledge of Power Systems applications for Electrical Network management; 
• Good C++ programming skills; 
• Desired programming skills on Python, Java; 
• Desirable to have worked continuous integration and development environment (Agile, Github …); 
• Ability to contribute in pre-sales/tendering phases through demo / presentation (users conferences, workshop etc).

Desired Characteristics

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable presenting technical design and technical solutions to clients/customers (English mandatory, French highly appreciated);
