Role Summary/Purpose
The Life Cycle Engineer - Repair Center Productivity identifies, leads, and implements many cost out and productivity projects at the Houston Service Center. As part of the services engineering organization, this role interfaces between multiple design engineering organizations, the product lines, and the operations team at the repair center. In this role, you will actively work and resolve troubleshooting, non-conformance dispositions, and cost of quality efforts.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Life Cycle Engineer - Repair Center Productivity, you will:
· Identify opportunities and maintain a pipeline of cost out, productivity project ideas with investment and ROI calculations
· Pitch projects for business case approval (projects can include removing unnecessary work scope, extending hardware life intervals, implementing more efficient repair methodologies, etc.)
· Manage all aspects of the project, including funding, budget, technical approvals, tooling design and creation, trials, training, documentation, implementation, etc.
· Track and verify project success following project implementation
· Coordinate and support the Aero Services repair engineering team based in Cincinnati, includeing helping identify repair opportunities (scrap avoidance) and securing / shipping scrap hardware for repair trials
· Lead projects that improve Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
· Lead projects that improve TAT of component repairs
· Lead projects that improve productivity, cost and quality at customer sites through FieldCore field procedures
· Support Houston Service Center in troubleshooting technical issues, dispositioning non-conformances and leading technical RCA investigations
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
· Minimum of 7 years of gas turbine technology experience
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in service center and repair organizations
Desired Characteristics
· Green Belt / Black Belt certified or equivalent Quality certification
· Gas Turbine service center repair and overhaul experience
· Gas Turbine lifing and failure modes experience
· Gas Turbine component repair experience
· Ability to calculate ROI, NPV, cost savings, etc.
· Understanding of LM products
· Commercial sensitivity with a focus on customer needs
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Creative, out-side-the-box thinker
· Proven interpersonal skills
