Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Test Automation Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of hardware / software solutions that automate testing strategies for aviation power equipment. Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Lead Test Automation Engineer, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. As The Lead Test Automation Engineer, Primary responsibility includes designing and developing LabVIEW test software that automates the testing of aviation equipment.

Additional responsibilities of the Lead Test Automation Engineer include:

·  Develop modular, reusable test architectures for manufacturing and engineering design verification 

·  Develop test software that interfaces with a range of test equipment 

·  Develop custom automation solutions to engineering and manufacturing challenges using a combination of embedded electronics and innovative hardware 

·  Work closely with Product Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure a testable product is being developed and influence the design to increase product reliability and test coverage 

·  Make recommendations for design, process improvements, and data collection 

·  Define and implement project plans, manage milestones and hold reviews to assure reliable test systems are delivered 

·  Write Equipment Verification Plans, Equipment Operation Procedures, and Test Reports against product requirements 

·  Investigate test failures and communicate/execute recommended actions 

·  Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements 

·  Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project 

·  Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures 

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments 

·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues 

·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews 

·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering from an accredited university or college

·  Minimum of 3 years LabVIEW Development experience

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in test software development, automation, manufacturing, embedded electronics, or related field

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience working with research and development and manufacturing engineering teams

·  Minimum of 1 year of experience automating processes and testing to improve manufacturing yields and reduce production time

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting test, automation, etc. to transition products from development to manufacturing

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Desired Characteristics

·  Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering from an accredited university or college

·  National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA)

·  Experience with test equipment, including thermal chambers, data acquisition systems, pressure controllers, DMMs, etc.

·  Extensive knowledge of physical sensors, such as current transducers, pressure transducers, accelerometers, and temperature sensors

·  Extensive knowledge with a range of interfaces including GPIB, USB, VISA, TCP/IP, CAN bus, SPI, I2C

·  Experience / Understanding of electromechanical production process

·  Development experience in Python, MATLAB, and Embedded C

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams

·  Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

·  Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

·  Effective problem identification and solution skills

·  Proven analytical and organizational ability
