Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will take an active and visible role in driving supplier quality improvements and business results for GE by demonstrating leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for GE Distributed Power. In this role, you will help to proactively take GE DP to the next level of supplier quality.

Essential Responsibilities

The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will use your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and long-term business goals.

As the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer, you will:

·  Be responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, improving quality performance via Quality Plan implementation
·  Work closely with Supply Chain personnel to quickly diagnose and lead appropriate actions to resolve supplier related issues to prevent production flow interruptions in the Welland factory
·  Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes
·  Accelerate improvements in supplier quality and deliver value
·  Develop positive relationships and work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier / engineering changes, New Product Introductions (NPI), and transfers
·  Interface with suppliers and supply chain to drive quality improvements
·  Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier yield, field cost, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement / effectiveness, and corrective and preventative action closure
·  Drive improvements utilizing Supplier Scorecards and own supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, and driving improvement plans
·  Understand and drive Six Sigma quality internally and with suppliers
·  Provide quality engineering expertise requiring advanced / specialized skills and a broad range of quality engineering expertise
·  Specify, develop, and accept advanced technology, quality information and test equipment
·  Provide advanced quality engineering of NPI involving new processes and/or advanced automated equipment
·  Provide correlation with GE facilities
·  Act as consultant to the Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering organizations to improve Quality and Manufacturing processes, NPI, and improve product design
·  Specify and develop product acceptance / test procedures that relate to a complex process (state-of-the-art) or highly complex product
·  Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and of special projects
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering from an accredited university or college
·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Sourcing or Quality Improvement role
·  Minimum of 1 year of experience leading major projects / initiatives from inception to completion ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·  Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time, as required
