Become part of a winning team and help to deliver the Green Energy transition.Operating in the United Kingdom, for the High Voltage Product Sales and Trading function (HVP-UK), the GIS Project Manager will carry out all the Project Management functions for the supply of HV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Products for external UK Customers.
Job Description
Role Summary:
It is a versatile role applying Specialist knowledge of into two principal roles:
Project Manager (PM)
- Directly facing the UK customer, as the main point of contact on Product Supply Contracts for HV GIS and associated Services. GIS Products are supplied from our global manufacturing base, so you will interface with the Technical Project Manager (TPM), for the GE Suppling unit, complemented with some local scope.
- The key role of the GIS PPM is to successfully execute the commercial deliverables of the Contract, to respect the Operating margins, whilst adhering to the policies and processes set out by the Company and satisfying the Customer. Responsible for the program, SAP booking process, technical definition, invoicing, cash collection through to the end of the Warranty period.
Engineering (and Technical Support)
- Evaluate, analyse and co-manage all technical issues relating to HV GIS, this involves interfacing with technical specialists from the Customer’s and the GE Manufacturing Units.
- To work toward becoming a GE Technical Expert status, on GIS Products, to ensure that the Technical Competencies from our Customers, are match by the local Technical Competencies within the UK Trading Unit. In time with suitable development of technical competencies, the GIS PPM, could branch out into the management of GIS Type Approval activities for the UK market.
In addition to the stated task, the GIS Project Manager will need to be self-motivated and well organised. As a Specialist in GIS, you will also be expected to support GIS Sales and Tendering functions, and other peers, who may be less experienced in the PM requirements and/or the technicalities of HV GIS Products.
The GIS PM will manage significant Traded Projects for the GE UK Grid Solutions business. Many customers will be of strategic importance and as such the GISPM will be an ambassador for GE values on ethics, integrity, and professionalism. Customer satisfaction is a key indicator for this role and the GIS PM needs to manage this, along with the financial, technical, and commercial risk & opportunities to the business.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Product Project Manager (PPM)
- To Project Manage loose produce and package traded Contracts.
- Be the main point of contact for the Customer in all aspects of the project execution.
- To carry out all SAP functions, such as order booking (SDCC method), planned costs, invoicing and raising Purchase Orders.
- Liaison with the Product Sales Specialist for Tender handover, and variation orders.
- Communication and project coordination with the Technical Project Manager within the Product Line.
- Carry out the project planning and create and maintain the contract programme using MS projects.
- Provide assistance to the Technical Project Manager and Customer to ensure on time delivery of the project in accordance with the contracted delivery date and terms, manage any deviation to contract delivery date or programme as required from both the Customer and Product Line perspective.
- Complete the Technical Order Clarification Sheets for approval by the customer and submission to the Technical Product Manager in the Product Lines.
- Complete the timely submission of contract documentation including drawings and manuals to the customer and conversely the specifications, programmes, and delivery details to the Technical Project Manager in the Product Lines.
- Provide the necessary monthly reporting on project execution, participate in the monthly contract review with other Product Project Managers in the HVP-UK team.
- Control the Estimate Analysis Sheet (EAS), Profit and Loss (P&L) and Gross Margin on orders booked and monitor and control the Gross Margin throughout the contract execution phase until completion.
- Manage commercial variations to the contract during the execution phase.
- Manage technical variations to the contract during the execution phase.
- Follow up on invoices and cash collection.
- Assist in the maintenance of the HVP-UK Process Instructions relating to contract execution and supporting processes.
- Look to continuously improve the Project Management function to deliver better customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Perform a Return of Experience review when Contracts are completed.
- Maintain and follow-up any actions relating to Customer Complaints (ACT system), Customer Satisfaction Surveys and Warranty claims post-delivery of the products and services provided.
- Comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and GE Policies.
Technical Support / Engineering (Developing)
- Work to develop Technical GIS Competencies to Specialist/Expert Level for all technical aspects of GIS design for the UK market.
- Represent HV Switchgear Product Line (HVS-PL) at a technical level with key customers TSOs, DNOs, Approval bodies such as the ENA and Trade Associations such as BEAMA.
- Providing technical support, advice, and recommendations to Customers, HVP-UK Colleagues (such as other PPMs), other GE Product Lines (such as AC Substations and Services) and supporting Functions (such as Sales and Tendering), in all technical aspects of HV GIS
Market and Business Understanding
The following Market and Business acumen is desirable:
- Understating of the Electricity Supply industry in the UK.
- Knowledge of the HV Switchgear products.
- Understanding GEs position in the market.
- Knowledge and understanding of competitors in the market.
- Knowledge and understanding of Distribution Network Operators (DNO), Transmission System Operators (TSO), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPCs) companies, and Contractors.
- Willingness to travel in UK and overseas as required.
Candidate Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Graduate Degree level (BEng or BSc) or equivalent education.
- Engineering related degree preferred but other degree subjects will also be considered.
- Project Managements, General management or Commercial related qualification / training would be advantageous.
- Great communication skills. English (Mandatory).
Experience
- Extensive experience in Project Management, Contract execution or Operational role.
- Demonstrated experience in Design, Application Engineering, Testing, Fault Analysis of HV Switchgear.
- Working in a National or International company / corporate environment.
- Team working in multi-disciplinary environments with multiple interfaces.
- Management of projects with technical and commercial risk.
