Job Description Summary

The Lead Field Services & Tooling Specialist, PWR will provide technical leadership and front-line supervision for the successful execution of complex projects and activities involving PWR’s of different designs including: Westinghouse, B&W and CE designed plants. In this role, you will support reactor disassembly, re-assembly, fuel movement, and in-core maintenance activities at various customer facilities. This position will also be responsible for coordinating overall Project Management for refurbishment of customer owned tooling.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Lead Field Services & Tooling Specialist, PWR you will:

  • Be assigned to various nuclear customer sites throughout the year and will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and delivery of field projects during our customer’s yearly outages. This includes project management tasks, task leadership, technical direction, work coordination and supervision of work teams composed of GEH (GE-Hitachi) salaried employees and contracted employees while at customer sites domestically and internationally.
  • Provide project coordination, including planning, scheduling, tracking, reporting and coordination of internal and external resources for assigned projects and programs.
  • Provide leadership, work coordination and supervision of work teams composed of GEH and contingent worker personnel including craft labor.
  • Establish appropriate relationships and interact effectively with senior level customers and suppliers. Manage commercial, technical & compliance issues and work within an integrated services team.
  • Support business activities including proposal preparation, cost estimating, and interfaces with Customer Service and Commercial Operations
  • Support and participate in planning, staffing, and training of personnel.
  • Provide tooling and equipment expertise.
  • Meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, getting first-hand customer information and using it for improvements in products and services.
  • Maintain diligence on integrity, safety and quality metrics and processes.
  • Support Product Lines within the larger Field Services organization as necessary.

This role will be based at our GEH headquarters in Wilmington, NC.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree of Science in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years of First Line Supervisor experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 5 years of PWR experience.
  • Qualified PWR instructor.
  • Minimum 5 years' experienced with RPV tensioner and associated PWR services tooling refurbishment.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with designing LSA and tooling shipping containers.
  • Certified DOT rad shipper.
  • Certified on NF400/NF500 mast refurbishments.
  • Certified fuel examiner and experience with fuel sipping.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to climb and descend 10 flights of stairs twice per day.
  • Ability and willingness to pass respirator fit test and physical.
  • Ability and willingness to pass Fitness For Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain unescorted access.
  • Ability and willingness to work under high stress conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to work in radiation controlled areas and radioactively contaminated areas.
  • This role requires heavy travel throughout the year. A candidate must have the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to plant sites up to 70% of the time, as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime hours during execution of customer projects, including up to 12 hours a day and consistent weekend work to meet project demands.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plant refueling activities.
  • Knowledge of PWR Vessels and Components, Nuclear Steam Safety System (NSSS), Reactor Containment Building.
  • Strong computer skills; ability to use MS Office, MS Project, E-Matrix Database.
  • Well organized and self-directed worker.

The salary range for this position is $92k- $130k.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
