Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Engineer - Composite Materials and Processes demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for design, development, and production of aerospace electric generators and associated equipment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Lead Engineer, you will:

·  Execute the responsibilities of a composite materials engineer with a concentration in polymer matrix composites

·  Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

·  Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

·  Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college

·  A minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant engineering position {Including Experience with thermosets (including polyester, epoxy, and polyimide systems), thermoplastics (including PTFE, PEEK, and PAI systems) and elastomers (including rubber and silicone systems); Experience with polymeric materials processing (including curing methodologies)}
Desired Characteristics

·  Master's Degree in related field from an accredited university or college

·  Work experience(s) in:
·  Electrically insulating materials
·  Polymeric materials for additive manufacturing
·  Design of experiments
·  Statistical analysis
·  Aerospace component test and validation
·  Electric Generation related industries

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams

·  Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

·  Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

·  Effective problem identification and solution skills

·  Working knowledge of organic chemistry principles

·  Understanding of polymeric materials performance with respect to mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties, as well as encapsulation processes and related reliability assessments

·  Product testing and qualification involving polymeric materials

·  Related EHS training
