Role Summary/Purpose
Wind power is becoming a more important part of the power generation mix and wind turbines are becoming leading edge power production equipment. Our goal in the Onshore Wind business is to drive stable, profitable growth. The eBOP (electrical Balance of Plant) design engineer is responsible for the electrical components design in the wind farm, including the pad mount transformer, transmission lines and layout, main circuit breaker, as well as the farm level optimization.
Essential Responsibilities
• Definition and control of complete technical documentation of eBOP components and layout and assemblies, including specifications, bills of material, drawings, 3D-models.
• Full component ownership. Starting with the definition of characteristics across technical clarification, interface definition, prototyping, testing, and introduction into manufacturing up to field issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance of components and their use to local and international codes or standards.
• Support the project team to optimize the farm to reduce the power loss in farm level, and/or reactive power compensation per the grid utility demand.
• Work with global and cross-functional teams to leverage ‘Best Practice’ for electrical testing and validation procedures.
• Preparation of design / analysis documentation, e.g. Design Practices, design record book articles, Work Desk Instructions (WDI), etc.
• Support Sourcing organization for new supplier qualification and supplier audits.
• Support root cause analysis on technical issues.
• Work closely with the Technical Leaders and global team members to ensure high quality and on-time delivery for all engineering assignments.
Qualifications/Requirements
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years’ experience with electrical component design, applications and/or practices.
• Familiar with international codes and standards.
• Positive mindset with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment.
• Self-motivated.
