Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead DevOps Engineer will work in engineering and development teams to integrate and develop solutions for cloud and virtualized deployment of software as a service product. The DevOps Engineer is also expected to have expertise in available cloud solutions and services, administration of virtual machine clusters, performance tuning and configuration of cloud computing resources, configuration of security, scripting and automation of monitoring functions
Essential Responsibilities
This position requires the deployment and management of multiple
virtual clusters, and working with compliance organizations to support security
audits. The design and selection of cloud computing solutions that are
reliable, robust, extensible, and easy to migrate is also important.
· Work with Engineering Leadership and development team to translate scalability, performance, reliability, and functional requirements to virtualized/cloud computing solutions
· Develop testing strategies and conduct tests to demonstrate viability of cloud deployment solutions
· Administer and manage cloud multiple cloud computing clusters
· Support engineer and development teams with onboarding/deploying virtualized software services
· Administer and support developer and user access to cloud resources
· Develop tools to monitor and report performance and security metrics for virtualized resources
· Participate in Agile software develop and deployment processes
· Participate in industry and technical meetings to support business objectives
· Communicate methods, findings, and hypotheses with stakeholders
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited college or university (OR Master’s Degree in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited college or university with a minimum 2 years of experience in development for industrial applications in a commercial / industrial setting (Minimum 2+ years of experience if graduate of a GE Leadership Program)
· Minimum 4 years of experience in development for industrial applications in a commercial / industrial setting
· Extensive scripting or programming experience (Shell Script, Java, C/C++, or Python)
· Extensive experience working with CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins)
· Extensive experience working with AWS, Azure, or Cloud Foundry Eligibility Requirements
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills
· Travel at least 10%of the time, as required
· Must be willing to work out of an office located in Boston, MA
