Essential Responsibilities
The Lead Commodity Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
· Achieve lowest possible cost for material, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs
· Solicit and evaluate proposals employing appropriate negotiation, cost and price analysis techniques, using available expertise from supporting organizations; implement purchase contracts following applicable company and government regulations
· Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain bids, and plan programs to meet business needs
· Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for assigned commodities
· Responsible for assigned commodities to meet the requirements of the business
· Perform continual market analysis and monitor supplier progress
· Coordinate training of suppliers to accomplish business initiatives
· Coordination procurement of assigned commodities (include but not limited: EMD, Mechanical Commodity, Electronics Commodity, Finished Sourcing Goods and etc.) to meet the requirements of GE
· Coordinate, help direct, as well as perform, all required functions from initiation of an intent to purchase through to satisfactory delivery of material or services
· Assure that material/services will be delivered on schedule, at negotiated price and meet required quality standards
· Initiate necessary action to assure best value is received, customer delivery requirements are met, and address any manufacturing problems at supplier’s facility

Qualifications/Requirements

· Proven analytical and problem solving skills, with sound judgment and a diplomatic attitude

· Ability to make formal and appealing presentations
Desired Characteristics
· Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a Sourcing environment)
· At least 3 years of experience in a Sourcing position, including negotiation involvement
