Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Buyer / Planner will develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your understanding and experience to execute business objectives and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Lead Buyer / Planner you will:

·  Assure that material / services will be delivered on schedule, at negotiated price and meets required manufacturing quality standards

·  Initiate necessary action to assure best value is received; customer delivery requirements are met and address any manufacturing problems at supplier’s facility

·  Achieve lowest possible cost for material, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs

·  Perform continual market analysis and monitor supplier progress and provide support and functional direction to Buyer / CA’s as required

·  Function as the program manager on assigned accounts taking ownership and leading all problem-solving activities by utilizing the appropriate technical resources as functional team members

·  Coordinate training of suppliers to accomplish business initiatives, develop competitive manufacturing facilities

·  Be responsible supplier communication, including but not limited to supplier open order reviews, RMA resolution, etc.

·  Be responsible for inventory management for assigned parts and processes required to ensure material input to support customer requirements while financial inventory objectives are accomplished

·  Coordinate planning and scheduling activities for assigned commodity utilizing advanced planning tools to model, simulate and release optimized material plans to the organization

·  Identify and implement automated procurement tools to reduce system transactions and increase material availability

·  Apply appropriate optimization methodologies to balance service level, inventory and resource utilization using advanced planning tools

·  Optimize material input to maximize production output to support both internal and external customers

·  Analyze data and collaborate in the determination and the subsequent application of appropriate order, inventory and replenishment policies

·  Resolve all inquiries pertaining to design change issues

·  Determine proper coding to be used when incorporating an approved design change
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution and a minimum 7 years of manufacturing or assembly experience)

·  Minimum 3 years of manufacturing and/or assembly experience
Desired Characteristics

·  Experience utilizing planning systems (SAP preferred)

·  Experience in purchasing, production control or planning, supervision, sourcing and / or material control environment

·  Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities

·  Ability to work effectively in all environments

·  Strong analytical and organizational skills

·  Six Sigma training or equivalent Quality Training

·  Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to work independently, identify and drive process improvement projects
