Role Summary/Purpose

This is a permanent role based in GE Sensing EMEA, Shannon, which is part of the overall Baker Hughes, a GE Company. The instrumentation technician role involves working as part of a team supporting our Flow metre measurement equipment used in oil and gas and industrial water applications.
Essential Responsibilities

• The Instrument technician will work with a wide variety of pneumatic, electronic and measurement devices to measure and control flow, pressure, temperature, and chemical composition.
• The role also involves mechanical assembly of flow cells, components and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings. Assembly of electro-mechanical assemblies from general arrangement drawings
• The technician will ensure all systems and assemblies are in good working order and assembled to SOP and use GMP at all times. Testing of integrated electro-mechanical assemblies using custom in-house loops and equipment
• The successful candidate would also be expected to provide support and fault finding skills to enable visiting inspectors to conduct inspections successfully
• On occasion the successful candidate may be expected to travel to off site calibration facilities to support flow meter calibrations on behalf of customers.
• Inspection of flow cells, mechanical assembly & functional testing of ultrasonic flow metering systems including flow cells, instruments, zero flow tests and calibration of assembled meters at calibration laboratories.
Qualifications/Requirements

• Craft certificate in Instrumentation and/or a relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in industry
• Proven competency and pro-active approach to fault finding/trouble shooting essential
• Experience in cailbration / loop checks essential
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Mechanical background desirable
• Strong computer skills (MS Office Applications, AutoCAD). Computer literate with operational experience using test programs in Windows environment, and become familiar with the computer databases
