Essential Responsibilities

The Intern/Contractor will be supporting LSS, Corp Governance Counsel, China in the creation and maintenance of a consistent corporate governance and regulatory reporting process across Global Operations – Legal Shared Services-China.

This is a surge resource role to enable the LSS to move to a ‘best-in-class’ execution model for Global Operations in China.

• Assist in the company chop and signature management procedure and workflow.
• Helping to drive legal entity compliance/regulatory reporting projects across multiple GE BUs in China including data collection & review and input into relevant database (GEMS, GOLD, GE BOX, Support Central folders)
• Providing ad hoc support to local teams with regard to on-going corporate governance initiatives / projects (e.g. corporate governance documentation upload, licensing, drafting/execution of resolutions/related documents, Powers of Attorney execution, directors/officers training etc.)
• Support other Corporate Governance initiatives (e.g. policy implementation, governance assessments)
• Support local / regional teams with regard to internal restructuring projects and LE simplification initiatives (e.g. reviewing entity structures, preparing documentation for restructuring /elimination)
• Support execution of strategic Corporate Governance initiatives that will leverage global Company Governance best practices (e.g. creating digital repository of FAQs, commonly used meetings/resolutions/other company governance document templates; designing and conducting electronic meetings/pertinent trainings, compliance metrics/dashboards)
Qualifications/Requirements

Interpersonal & coping skills:
• Capable of working independently with supervision but with initiative and proactively seeking guidance where needed
• Ability to work effectively within a matrix structure with multiple stakeholders

Management & technical skills:

• Good legal research skill and ability to make various inquiries with central or local government authorities in China
• Good process and project management skills - ability to manage broad agenda, track and monitor progress against its completion; anticipate agenda changes and proactively address potential conflicts
• Good planning and analytical skills, able to identify trends, themes & issues from complex data, able to manage competing priorities
• Experience working in legal/financial/risk/compliance governance reporting and regulatory supervision
• Drive for accuracy and timeliness on deliverables
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a matrix structure with multiple stakeholders, within a team and independently
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Good understanding of corporate governance requirements across diverse locations in China
• Fluent written and spoken Chinese, English
• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Law.
• PRC Bar qualification preferred.
• Experience in working in corporate governance legal area in law firms, services organisations or MNCs preferred,
