Role Summary/Purpose

The Computed Tomography (CT) Firmware team is seeking a highly motivated Embedded Software Engineer interested in being a part of a global team developing the real-time control software for industry-leading CT scanners. This role will be a part of the team working on implementing real-time control software on cutting edge embedded platforms and real-time operating systems (RTOS) for the next generation CT scanner using C/C++ programming languages and model-based development tools.
Essential Responsibilities

• Work closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and software design
• Interacting with global teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms
• Design and implementation of distributed control software that manages the next-generation components and subsystems for Computed Tomography (CT) medical devices
• Designing and building strong testing infrastructure to minimize dependency on hardware availability
• Agile and Lean software development methodologies to drive reliability upstream into the product development life cycle
• Design, implement and test CT firmware subsystems, in collaboration with the system design team and hardware engineers, utilizing the CT hardware and embedded software technologies.
• Engage in all phases of New Product Introduction (NPI), including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support
• Support planning the development activities; perform technical design and code reviews
• Interact with global engineering teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms
Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related computer field
• 4 years of experience developing hardware/software for complex systems or computerized products, including experience with software development cycle and automated testing
• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in C/C++
Desired Characteristics

• 1 year of experience in object-oriented design methodology and various programming languages, including UML, C/C++, and Python
• 1 year of experience in common industry communication protocols (DDS, Ethernet, SRIO)
• 1 year of experience in system level integration and ability to demonstrate troubleshooting at the system
• Working knowledge of RTOS such as VxWorks
• Working knowledge in configuration management tools
• Working knowledge with CT systems designs and development
• Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related computer field
• Experience in model-based software design and tools (Rhapsody, Rational DOORS, ALM, Matlab, etc.
• Experience in software platform, advanced applications, user-interface design and/or systems engineering
• Experience in platform and application development
• Demonstrated knowledge of Quality, Tools and/or LEAN processes
• Experience in embedded software platform and application development
• Experience developing software for complex systems in regulated industry (medical, automotive, aviation)
• Experience in VxWorks development and debugging
• Experience with Linux development environment
• Experience with UML language and IBM Rational Rhapsody
• Experience with Mathworks SIMULINK
• Demonstrated knowledge of Quality, Tools and/or LEAN processes
