Role Summary/Purpose

The Engineering Prototype Specialist will support Engineers in the design and fabrication of electro-mechanical prototypes. The Engineering Prototype Specialist will also assist in writing work instructions, and training others in fabrication.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Build, install, and test electro-mechanical power generation prototypes. 

·  Read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical, and assembly drawings to achieve primary tasks  
·  Recommend technical approach, required resources, and schedule interfaces with other Engineering Departments, Centers of Excellence, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Global Research Center, and Suppliers as required 
·  Leverage prior work where appropriate 
·  Communicate status and problems to project leaders and management
·  Perform assigned tasks including definition, approach, analysis, review, and implementation - on schedule and within budget 
·  Document results
·  Create training documentation
·  Train others in fabrication
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor Degree from an accredited university or college (Or an Associate Degree in a technical field from an accredited school or institution with a minimum of 2 years of experience in electro-mechanical equipment fabrication / troubleshooting / maintenance experience; Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of military, or electro-mechanical equipment fabrication / troubleshooting / maintenance experience)
Desired Characteristics

·  Previous hands-on experience in fabrication, design and development of electro-mechanical power generation equipment 

·  Experience in Aerospace Power Systems (generation, conversion, or distribution) 

·  Ability to organize and clarify technical requirements, develop support documentation and support lab / field testing of aerospace power components  
·  Technical writing experience 
·  AutoCAD or other CAD tool experience 
·  Strong oral and written communication skills 
·  Experience with MS Office
