Role Summary/Purpose

The Micro-siting – Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) lead engineer will lead evaluations for wind farms and contribute to process development and vision for world class Micro-siting. The candidate will fulfill complete WRAs for Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) life cycle on Wind Turbine proposals
Essential Responsibilities

As an integral part of GE’s Digital Wind Farm, this critical engineering role in the front end of the business helps us understand the operating environment for our turbines, assessing their production capability as well as mechanical loading, and proposing ways to add customer value. In this role, you will

• Support new units and services proposals by performing Wind Resource, Annual Energy Production, Turbine Layout Optimization and noise propagation Assessments.
• Translate measured wind conditions to wind resource characterizations and generate input conditions to enable Mechanical Loads Assessments. Develop solutions to increase customer value
• Contribute to enhancing WRA methods for speed, productivity and accuracy. Explore methods that utilize mesoscale models to enable improved assessments of past and future site production and extended turbine life.
• Contribute to application engineering efforts to develop and evaluate methods to incorporate turbine operating data to complement pre & post construction met mast data and meso-scale models for wind resource and turbine siting. Network with other WRA engineers for best practice sharing
• Facilitate process changes allowing the team to achieve "Fulfillment Excellence" thru on-time delivery with first time quality for all proposals. Mentor team members regarding WRA process and technology improvements.
Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) or in Atmospheric Physics or equivalent from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience wind resource assessment, site screening feasibility and micro-siting in the wind energy development process
• Demonstrated experience with WAsP, WAsP Engineering, (or equivalent wind flow modeling tools), meso-scale wind methods and Wind Turbine micro-siting
• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving mindset and creativity
• Affluent communication skills in English both Verbal & Written
• Excellent Interpersonal skills to work in a global team framework.
