Role Summary/Purpose

This position supports the Distributed Power Fulfillment Engineering team in a design capacity for reciprocating engines and packaged generator sets. This position will work in global team to deliver product solutions by completing custom design requests for new unit sales or Customer Modifications & Upgrades (CM&U) for customer installed units. You will utilize your skills in engineering design, CAD, BOM creation, project management and GE's quality system to deliver customer solutions.
Essential Responsibilities

• Create new product designs and solve reliability issues related to electrical systems and wire harnessing on GE engines, gensets and control panels.
• Produce 2D drawings which include the application of dimension techniques while considering manufacturability and design intent.
• Create and release complete technical data packages as required for production of new designs.
• Create and release customer documentation packages to provide instruction for Installation, Operation, and Maintenance.
• Work with customers, applications, & Product Line Management to identify custom order requirements, provide engineering data for quotes, create project timelines and complete custom sales order design activities
• Use expertise in design/reciprocating engines/gensets/electrical systems to help resolve manufacturing issues
• Demonstrate professional characteristics necessary for working in and leading global teams such as task definition, team building, mentoring and training both local and remote colleagues, collaborative interpersonal skills, and effective communication.
• Procure prototype hardware for design verification, fit-up, & product release.
• Develop technical requirements and quality standards while working closely with cross-functional personnel
• Perform engineering studies and calculations within the scope of assigned work
• Participate in project teams as the electrical Fulfillment Engineering design lead and complete all tasks required to release the product on schedule
• Participate in / lead technical design reviews
• Complete all required business system transactions associated with ECO releases as required
• Provide technical support to other functional areas as required
• Participate or lead in advancing fulfillment engineering initiatives which include: product manufacturing information (PMI), drawing templates, part families, drawing automation, drawing elimination, checking automation, customer documentation automation, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Design from an accredited University is required along with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a design role.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Desired Characteristics

• Demonstrated proficiency utilizing electrical engineering skills to analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to design and detail wiring systems.
• Experience with ePLAN P8 and Harness proD or other software for design, modeling and routing of wire harnesses on industrial machines.
• Industrial engine, generator set, control panels or switchgear background.
• Proficiency in managing technical and organizational assignments
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Organizational skills required to effectively handle multiple tasks.
• Communication & Interpersonal skills required to function effectively with engineering and inter-department team.
• Experience with Oracle/SAP Business system.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Must embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn.
