Role Summary/Purpose

The maintenance electrician performs both repair and installation functions on electrical and electronic equipment for the company. This includes analyzing malfunctions and effecting the repair of electrical equipment including motors, control systems, transformers, generators, PLC devices, switches, and associated circuits. This also includes installation of wiring, conduits, cabinets, and circuit breakers and switches for new and relocated equipment.
Essential Responsibilities

·  The maintenance electrician will interface with department and shop supervision to identify work priorities and will plan and effect daily workloads. 
·  The duties will include construction, installation, and maintenance activities on all electrical equipment.  
·  Construction/installation tasks will require the proper routing, location, and methods of installing wires and conduits, electrical equipment, light fixtures, and accessories and the ability to work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics. 
·  The ability to perform these tasks to national electric code and to compute wire gauge, and power and load limit requirements is essential. 
·  These tasks will be performed either solo, with similarly graded employees, or by directing one or more lower graded, less experienced personnel.
·  Maintenance and repair tasks will require the ability to analyze reported malfunctions to determine whether the problem is in the control system or is electrical or mechanical in nature. 
·  If control or electrical in nature, the maintenance electrician will review schematics, wiring diagrams, performance specifications and manufacturers manuals to determine potential failure causes and corrections. 
·  The maintenance electrician will use test equipment and interface directly with equipment manufacturers personnel as necessary to obtain additional necessary information/direction. 
·  The maintenance electrician will order parts as necessary and effect repairs on the equipment in a timely manner. 
·  Adjustments and testing on the completed repairs will be performed as necessary and the equipment returned to production by notification of appropriate supervision. 
·  These duties may also be performed solo or in concert with similarly graded employees or by directing one or more lower graded, less experienced personnel. 

·  These tasks will require record keeping and the completion of maintenance logs and reports, and communication with supervision by verbal, written, and electronic means.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Must be 18 years of age or older
·  Requires a HS diploma/GED equivalent
·  Journeyman Card Required
·  Requires a minimum of 3 years experience performing similar electrical maintenance tasks
·  Requires the ability to demonstrate a broad shop knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment and control systems.
·  Requires the ability to use considerable judgement and planning when determining the proper method to install or repair valuable industrial equipment
·  Requires the understanding and ability to use proper personal protective gear and apply effective safety practices at all times
·  Requires moderate physical efforts and the ability to work tight spaces
·  Requires sufficient knowledge to help identify tasks and situations where more highly qualified electricians or repair personnel are required. Tasks requiring higher qualifications will only be performed under the permission and direction of more qualified personnel.
