Role Summary/Purpose

The Electrical / Excitation Field Service Engineer utilizes all resources and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish new or existing products.
Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Electrical Superintendent, you will:

·  Participate as a Regional Service Team member

·  Lead and manage site execution of retrofit projects. Scope of projects includes, but not limited to the following: Excitation Systems (EX 2000, EX2100, Alterrex, DFE-Digital Front End), generator controls and relaying, electrical construction, static start (LCI) systems

·  Be capable of running a crew between 5-15 people to perform LOTO properly, voltage check, tag, remove wiring to install new Turbine control cabinets [may include excitation and LCI control cabinets also on separate LOTO], move old cabinets out , prep floor for new cabinet cable entrances, pull existing wiring and term; wire check and ground check wiring to prints [correct REDLINE prints as needed] and assistance in loop checks [knowledge of I&C check out processes required]

·  Manage on-site job tasks to all GE subcontracted labor crews including LOTO, time sheets, change orders from subcontractor and change orders to the customer

·  Weekly safety audits, daily JSA & tool box review along with monthly incident reports are a requirement of this position

·  Ability to build tagging lists from IO lists & cabinet layout – cable sort to signal levels, verification of terminations to print or list; redline termination lists

·  Ability to build field loop diagrams and general circuit wiring to match field wiring found and to redline existing drawings to match installed devices

·  Perform project management and technical leader duties

·  Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues

·  Work to be performed at GE and customer locations throughout the South / Southeast United States with possible work locations throughout the US and globally

·  Able to travel extensively and work significant over-time

·  Timely completion of service reports, invoicing packages and other administrative requirements

·  Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality

·  Interface with other GE organizations in support of business growth initiative
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited college or university OR Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Electronics or Electrical Systems and 5 years of experience in generator excitation systems, LCI starting systems and/or generator protection systems OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in generator excitation systems, LCI starting systems and/or generator protection systems

·  Minimum 3 years of field engineering experience in electrical systems (Exciters, LCIs, Switchgear, transformers and/or generator protection systems)

Eligibility requirements:

·  Travel up to 80% of the time, as required

·  Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required

·  Possess a valid driver's license and able to obtain or possess a US Passport and TWIC Card
Desired Characteristics

·  Computer Network Topology knowledge is a plus

·  Previous industrial and/or utility field service experience with electrical equipment primarily excitation systems or drive systems

·  Controls experience to equipment that functions as a "prime mover"

·  Electrical / Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills

·  Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications, Access, MS Project, TCP / IP configuration

·  Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes (Cimplicity, Toolbox, etc.)

·  Prior electrical maintenance experience

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills

·  Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings

·  Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently, ability to prioritize, organize work and meet deadlines

·  Ability to set and meet aggressive targets
