Role Summary/Purpose
The Data Analyst will monitor operational data from customer sites to perform basic root cause analysis on a wide range of electrical equipment. In this role you will perform statistical analysis to identify potential serial defects, product improvement opportunities and produce metrics. In this position, you will be the first technical responder to issues in the field and determine data integrity and perform data aggregation for technical support review.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Data Analyst, you will:
· Analyze big data and communicate the results effectively to technical and commercial teams internally as well as participate in external customer communication
· Develop and deploy product learning and statistical methods for finding structure in large data sets
· Apply statistical methods to identify existing problems and early indicators of potential problems affecting system reliability and operational availability
· Identify and characterize operational factors affecting component reliability and performance variation in deployed systems
· Standardize operational metrics related to component reliability and system availability
· Develop reporting dashboards based on system data
· Support field service and technical support staff to solve customer issues
· Support customers remotely on troubleshooting by analyzing data and determining factors related to component failure modes
· Update and maintain all installed product records within the case management tool

Desired Characteristics
· Master's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or in ‘STEM” majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited university or college
· Experience in analytic software packages (Python, Java, SQL, etc.)
· Hands on experience working with large data sets, including data cleansing / transformation, statistical analyses and data visualization
· Effective team building and problem solving abilities
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
· Familiarity with a variety of engineering areas
· Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives
· Understands GE's products, capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to develop offerings that meet customer needs
· Displays good interpersonal skills – is accessible and approachable
· Measures processes and performance through the customer's eyes
· Can energize teams through inclusiveness and connection with people
