Role Summary/Purpose
Provide costing models for various Gas Engines sub-systems, parts, components and projects using Should Costing and Value Engineering techniques. Support the engineering, product line and sourcing team to enable deflation or cost-avoidance.
Essential Responsibilities
i) Develop cost-models and costing reports on various Gas Engines components and systems
ii) Conduct cost reduction analysis on major cost drivers, specific systems and components utilizing 2D\\3D costing tools
iiI) Interacting with sourcing team and product-cost leaders and enable cost-reduction
iv) Interacting with the design teams to study the inputs provided and for should cost support
v) Understanding of GE and supplier manufacturing process plans (MPP), study and training on processes and guidelines.
vi) Reviewing and understanding vendor manufacturing process
vii) Arriving at the cost estimates by supplier contacts & data collection and establishing cost templates
viii) Sourcing supplier negotiations support
ix) Global - Region based cost support for sourcing teams
Qualifications/Requirements
i) Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college
ii) Minimum of 2 years related industry experience in cost estimation and value engineering
Desired Characteristics
i) 2 years of experience in Gas Engines packaging systems or similar equipment preferred
ii) Experience in costing of electrical and electronics components like sensors, wiring-harness, control components like solenoid-valves etc
iii) Certified\\Associate Value Engineer is preferred
iv) Familiarity with cost estimating tools and templates such as DFMA, aPriori & knowledge of VPE and process routes in costing tools
v) Experience with design and other modeling tools
vi) Knowledge of mechanical / electrical design, manufacturing / assembly processes, sourcing support
vii) Knowledge of manufacturing methods, assembly, testing and quality methods, procedures, systems and requirements
viii) Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
ix) Solid oral and written communication skills
x) Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
xi) Good communication skills and able to work within a team environment. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task environment
