Role Summary/Purpose

Working as a systems design engineer within a multi-disciplined team of engineers at Dowty Propellers reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will support the business in meeting customer requirements, quality, timescale and cost. Projects will include new applications and in-service product support.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Working as a member of the on-site design team, and with collaborative partners, developing fully optimised propeller solutions whilst ensuring integrity of the product.

·  Proactively and energetically interact in a cross-functional team environment and be open minded to new ideas and concepts.

·  Technically liaise with current and new project participants, supply base and other sub-contract organisations and customers.

·  Technically liaise with partners and/or collaborative external organisations to develop integrated propulsion system solutions.

·  Keenness to learn and develop existing in-house technologies including: mechanics, dynamics, hydraulics, digital control and system design schemes.

·  An ability to analyse system design and performance is essential including dynamic simulation capability (e.g. Simulink).

·  Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives including the development of control system processes.

·  Provide control system support for addressing ‘day to day’ product testing problems.

·  Working as a flexible member within Engineering to achieve overall team goals & objectives.

·  Implement and maintain GE standard of compliance and policy

·  Some overseas travel may be required during project integration, testing and certification activities.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Education should be to degree standard or equivalent in Mechanical, Aerospace or Design engineering.

·  Significant experience in aerospace or automotive system design.

·  Proved track record in communicating ideas in a professional manner, facilitating open discussion.

·  Demonstrate strong problem solving skills.

·  ‘Can-do’ attitude with experience of working on own initiative within a changing environment, an enthusiast of change.

·  Target driven, capable of taking ownership ensuring deadlines are met.

·  Commitment to high standards of excellence.

·  Prepared to work offsite for short periods of time and willingness to work extended/flexible hours when required to meet customer demands.

·  Working knowledge of Matlab and Simulink

·  Literate with Microsoft Office tools.
