Role Summary/Purpose

The CMC Process Engineer has the ultimate engineering accountability associated with ownership of manufacturing equipment effectiveness and associated manufacturing process(es) of Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC’s) utilizing Laser and/or Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) technologies. Comprehensive in-depth understanding of complex and highly technical manufacturing concepts and principles.
Essential Responsibilities

Translation of technical processes and methods to train and empower operators and technicians in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield effectiveness & equipment capability. Strong knowledge of technical concepts in disruptive and/or complementing technologies that intersect with own technical space.

In addition, as the CMC Process Engineer, you will :

·  Define and control production process(es) including tooling, equipment, methods, and/or process effectiveness for assigned areas of responsibility and/or ownership

·  Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product(s), tools, equipment, processes and/or methods

·  Act seamlessly as Manufacturing Engineer and/or Process Engineer in areas of assignment and/or responsibility

·  Resolve problems through the application of acquired expertise guided by precedent, Lead Process engineers, as well as 6 Sigma mindset

·  Work in collaboration with various levels of business partners, stakeholders & peers from the business unit(s) to ensure effective upstream & downstream interactions and/or impacts

·  Own identification and management / delivery of plant, equipment, process, method projects / initiatives to drive continued optimization of product line, both established and NPI / new technologies

·  Ownership and Presentation to internal teams on metrics, project status and research

·  Diligently seek to continue developing disruptive technologies, tooling, equipment, training, error-proofing, improved processes and/or methods, etc.

Additionally, as the CMC Process Engineer, you will :

·  Support shop floor to deliver business results while encouraging insight and input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment

·  Participate in the development of mid and long term plans outlining projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on cost, part quality and cycle time

·  Design and implement manufacturing processes and systems for control and replenishment of materials

·  Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive design engineering relationships

·  Exhibit ownership and take responsibility in attaining all aspects of production operation including safety, scheduling, quality, and team development in assigned areas

·  Plan and implement process-engineering activities for new product development and current product support

·  Provide manufacturing method development and improvement for current and new products

·  Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture

·  Investigate and apply new technology in support of site growth plans

·  Assist Team Leaders and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action

·  Pursue continuous improvement for quality and cost reductions in designated area

·  Act as change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward benchmarked, best of class performance
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production Process and Equipment

·  Ability and Willingness to work off-shift, respond to off-hours / on call / as needed
Desired Characteristics

·  Demonstrated / Strong background in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programing, manufacturing and/or troubleshooting

·  Advanced experience with Computer Numeric Control (CNC) programming, set-up, machining and/or troubleshooting

·  Demonstrated experience in Laser technology and/or Laser ablation and/or Electric Discharge Machining (EDM)

·  Demonstrated experience in complex shapes / structure design and/or machining processes and/or methods

·  Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings / specifications and translate to manufacturing systems, machines, programing and process development

·  Ability to take ownership & have ultimate accountability to drive projects to success with limited supervision and/or guidance

·  Ability to manage and own multiple projects / assignments simultaneously and bring to successful results

·  Willingness to work in a boundary-less fashion & within a team environment, partnering with both hourly & exempt employees in a highly collaborative work environment with can-do attitude

·  Willingness to work off-shift, respond to off-hours / on call / as needed in order to respond to equipment / process breakdown, issues, to minimize production disruption and ensure maximum equipment and process effectiveness

·  Ability to digest complex issues & articulate to teams, technicians & leadership

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to influence others and lead small teams

·  Lead initiatives of mid-moderate to large scope and impacts

·  Effective analytical problem identification and solution skills using data driven decisions and utilization of Six Sigma and Lean tools

·  Previous aerospace product experience in design or manufacturing

·  Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes

·  Knowledge of safety agency regulations, ISO and/or quality procedures
