Role Summary/Purpose
This role will drive the vision for automation application and practices while providing leadership and planning for automation for new products & existing manufacturing. It will have the ability of looking at our shops and process lines holistically and developing concepts and solutions that drive short and long range roadmaps. This position will also be responsible for scoping, developing and deploying new automation applications & supporting our manufacturing engineering teams globally.
Essential Responsibilities
• The scope of automation will cover both Fixed and Collaborative automation. Will work various sites to help identify high ROI applications, help do the design and prove out of the application and support the local teams to deploy the automation into production.
• Ability to develop and apply electro-mechanical concepts and solutions on mfg. processes.
• Be a part of our New Product Introduction process to influence designs to incorporate design for automation standards so low cost solutions are part of initial production release.
• Support the effort to create standard automation Equipment/User Requirement Specifications to further drive component standardization, data standards for brilliant factories, and standard safety risk assessments.
• Stay connected with industry and university trends, helping GEHC stay current with new automation innovations.
• Support the MPTC (Manufacturing Process Technology Council) globally and expand/develop regional liaisons within the council.
• Create training materials and provide training on automation process technologies. Take part in training deployment strategy for the MPTC.
The scope of Automation Processes includes: Collaborative Robots (Universal Robots, Universal, Fanuc, ABB, ect.), Fixed automation, 2D and 3D Inspection Technologies, Automated Guided Vehicles, Networking including the integration of PLC’s and supporting our Brilliant Factory initiatives by connecting the physical process to digital information.
Quality Specific Goals:
1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
4. Knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, DMR, DHR and electronic signature requirements to ensure that product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
1. B.S. Degree in Automation, Electro-Mechanical or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.
2. 3-5 years of experience in application product and/or process design and development.
3. Experience with auto CAD electrical.
4. Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical and planning skills.
5. Domain expertise in the automation and controls technologies.
6. Demonstrated program or project management skills.
7. Demonstrated experience owning production processes / growing capability in yield and quality.
8. Willing to travel domestic and internationally up to 25% of the time.
