Role Summary/Purpose
This position is the for the Additive Machine Engineer role at GE Aviation's Additive Technology Center. The Additive Machine Engineer role is focused on the Engineering associated with technology development for the Additive process, and it requires developed and strong foundation of applied engineering scientific skills and a broad knowledge of laser and optical technologies.
Essential Responsibilities
The ATC Laser Technologist - Additive Machine Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In the Additive Machine Engineer role, you will utilize your engineering and manufacturing experience or expertise to solve problems and advance the state of the art of additive manufacturing technology. You will lead key technical initiatives with engineering ownership, project planning and on time delivery to the customer.
In addition, as the Additive Machine Engineer, you will:
· Work in a hands-on environment to develop processes for additive manufacturing
· Pioneer the use of new additive printers and optimize for aviation component manufacturing
· Develop & optimize calibration and operational procedures of additive equipment
· Drive technology advances in additive manufacturing machine and process technology
· Task activities are focused on various areas of machine technology including:
· machine capacity
· robustness
· reducing process variations
· machine improvements
· and subsystem technology functionality
· Transition new and improved processes into Supply Chain shops
· Lead technical reviews and participate as a reviewer
· Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
· Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
· Own technology development strategies and initiatives
· Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
· Coordinate maturation and delivery of new technology to the production environment
· Work together with business leadership at SPB and EB level
· Work on cross-functional engineering teams to capture key requirements, defined development plans, and ensure customer delivery
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of engineering or other appropriate technical experience)
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in Technology Development role
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
· Graduate degree in one of the following: Engineering, Physics from an accredited university or college
· Working experience with laser and optics principles
· Hands-on familiarity with EOS or Concept Laser DMLM printing machines and software
· Machine control and software experience
· Experience in data acquisition and sensors
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
· Ability to influence others and lead small teams
· Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
· Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
· Effective problem identification and solution skills
· Proven analytical and organizational ability
