Job Description Summary

The CMC Welder – Hourly is responsible for manufacturing hardware utilizing established TIG welding and assembly processes for Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs). The role performs high-quality welds and inspections, follows process instructions and weld schedules, and partners with Production Control and Process Engineering to ensure supplies and consumables are available to meet team business needs. The welder actively contributes to a self-directed team and supports Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance across the cell.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS  

·   High School Diploma / GED  

· 
Ability to pass eyesight acuity requirements and color vision perception test.   

· 
Welding certification from an accredited trade school or equivalent, and/or a minimum of one year of welding experience 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

· 
Flexibility to work off shifts and travel for training as needed 

· 
Able to work independently with minimum supervision in a team environment 

· 
Ability to read, interpret, and follow process planning, part routers, and other quality documents 

· 
Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity, as required 

· 
Ability to use / apply welding and assembly techniques and inspections 

· 
Ability to read & understand process instructions & weld schedules 

· 
Complete required training curriculum for weld/assembly processes 

· 
Complete all required compliance training 

· 
Complete all EHS training and participate in safety and/or quality audits 

· 
Cross-train on other direct labor operations as required by business need 

· 
Ability to obtain required weld/assembly certifications for GE 

· 
Be an active, contributing member of a high-performance self-directed work team 

· 
Ability to use/apply TIG welding and assembly techniques and perform inspections 

· 
Ability to read and understand process instructions and weld schedules 

· 
Communicate effectively with Production Control and Process Engineering on needed supplies and consumables 

· 
Drive Safety, Quality, and Production metrics within the team based on business needs 

This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.  

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
