Role Summary/Purpose

The Navigation and Guidance Engineer will provide technical leadership and expertise to support the development of Embedded Flight Management Systems Software products, with a concentration in Aircraft Modeling and Performance. In the Navigation and Guidance Engineer role, you will utilize your experience / expertise to solve problems, develop, and execute objectives for yourself and others, and have the ability to affect business goals.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Navigation and Guidance Engineer, you will:

·  Validate system requirements and author embedded software for Flight Management Systems

·  Become a technical expert in the area Aircraft Modeling and Aircraft Performance

·  Work in a multidisciplinary team, architect, design, develop, and update functionality for real-time Flight Management Software

·  Identify, evaluate, and occasionally develop engineering tools and processes necessary to meet the projects engineering and business goals

·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments, maintaining a focus on safety and reliability

·  Conduct Problem (PR) investigation and resolution

·  Participate in software structural coverage analysis and test for 100% coverage of airborne software

·  Participate actively in software design and code reviews

·  Write embedded avionics software functional test cases and procedures to verify software functional requirements

·  Develop software verification strategies and test procedures to verify software functional requirements

·  Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound scientific / engineering principles and practices

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related Technical discipline from an accredited college or university

·  Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 10% of the time

·  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics

·  Experience in embedded Military and Commercial Avionics product development

·  Experience with embedded software development lifecycle within Aerospace or similar controlled industry

·  Experience with embedded software development in Flight Management Systems, including Aircraft Modeling and Performance

·  Experience with software development using Ada, C and C++ languages, RTOSs, or Model Based Development in a DO-178B Avionics development environment

·  Experience using Configuration Management tools CVS, GIT, Rational Team Concert

·  5 years of experience in embedded product development

·  2 years of experience in Avionics development

·  Experience directing and participating in requirements definition and trace, architecture planning, design implementation, documentation, testing, verification and production support efforts

·  Experience of a Graphical Modeling Language with Simulation (e.g. Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow, Statemate, Scade, Enterprise Architect)

·  Experience and Leadership of Embedded Software Development efforts using C & C++ languages, RTOSs or MBD in a DO-178B Avionics development environment

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

·  Proven analytical and organizational ability

·  Capable of developing and writing specifications in an engineering environment

·  Development to MIL-STD and DO-178C Standards

·  Ability to use project cost and schedule requirements as part of the overall best technical solution

·  Familiarity and experience with state-of-the-art model-based development, software implementation, testing, and robustness methods

·  Provide work direction to internal and external IPDT members

·  Participate in a team as a team player

·  Ability to provide most cost effective and technically correct solution to internal and external customers
