Role Summary/Purpose

Welding is one the key fabrication process in the production of a Magnetic Resonance System. The role will provide leadership, planning and technical support for the introduction of Welding processes for New Product development and existing products. The role will also be responsible for leading efforts to improve product and process quality and speed by identifying and implementing new infrastructure, processes and technology with regards to welding/fabrication.
Essential Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include: 

•Drive improved product quality by identifying welding issues, developing advanced welding cost effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production 
•Knowledge of robotic welding, including researching and specifying equipment and strong knowledge of robotic programming. Knowledge of automated aluminum MIG welding, automated MIG carbon and stainless steel welding 
•Experience in design of welding Jigs and Fixtures
Prepare and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) 
•Work with manufacturing leadership to identify and resolve welding, supply chain, manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, and processes 
•Monitor and improve productivity through the use of Lean Six Sigma or related tools, while ensuring all customer commitments are timely and cost conscious and met with quality 
•Ensure early focus on welding and fabrication items in NPI and/or Advanced Technology programs. Drive rigor in process capability assessment, process layout, technology plays within QMS Design Transfer execution 
•Support AME initiatives with wide business impact and ensure to share best practices across the different plants and Global Supply Chain 
•Ensure regulatory compliance through Qualification& Validation. Responsible for ensuring rigor in determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance. Serve as the MR representative to TUV and any other regulatory body on welding/Site Weld Supervisor.
Oversee training and qualification of Welding and Welding Operators in accordance with TUV, ISO, ASME, AWS and other codes and standards. 
•Drive continuous simplification of QMS methods and their applications by working with cross-functional team including Operations and Quality Assurance. 

 Quality Specific Goals 

•Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position 
•Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines 
•Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required 
•Perform welding duties in compliance with current GDP as per annual GDP Training and local procedures Complete all planned Quality &Compliance training

•Knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, DMR, DHR and electronic signature requirements to ensure that product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:
•B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree and 3 years’ experience or Associates Degree and 5 years experience or High School diploma with 7 years of experience in production, engineering or troubleshooting of PC/Server-based systems  
• Understanding of IT QA and testing procedures 
• Good analytical and planning skills

Desired Characteristics: 
• MS in technical concentration/field
• 5+ years industrial experience in Manufacturing Engineering and experience working in fabrication and welding, or engineering. Experience working with regulatory bodies. 
• 6-sigma DMAIC & DFSS certified. 
• Expertise in brazing and soldering 
• Experiences in Process Intensive manufacturing 
• Product and Process Development experience 

• Demonstrated program or project management skills 
• Proven ability to meet deadline in a fast paced changing environment 
• Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical and planning skills 
• Ability to work independently  
• Demonstrated strong communication skills (written and verbal) to all levels of the organization
