Role Summary/Purpose

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for defining design and process requirements for energy storage. In this role, you will
liaison between engineering and supply chain in defining manufacturing processes, tooling, part presentation and transportation. Your actions will be coordinated with design engineers, process and method engineers, QA personnel, operators, and production management.
Essential Responsibilities

• As the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer provide the technical expertise required for design, build, integration, programming as necessary to ensure final system meets functional goals.
• Perform the Robotics Automation Engineering function for the development of complex automation systems and the commissioning of custom process applications.
• Assist with the quotation/proposal activity as requested to assure valid and accurate representation of capabilities of robotic or flexible automation products for GETS and realistic costs in terms of manpower expenditures and equipment/software requirements to achieve these goals.
• Responsible for improving manufacturing processes, tooling, part presentation and transportation.
• Lead continuous improvement projects.
• Solicit input from suppliers and professional organizations to develop automated processes, training plans, process control measures, material presentation options, process capability, capacity improvements, etc.
• Lead business-wide, multi-generational development and execution of automated applications
• Consult with engineering to define optimized manufacturing methods and process details to ensure compliance to internal and external specifications
• Work with Maintenance, Manufacturing and Quality to optimize TPM plans.
Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
Desired Characteristics

•Experience with battery EHS and safety procedures
•Experience with developing software and controls for robotics and automation in assembly, material handling, welding, painting, etc.
• Experience in adaptive processes that can allow a robot to change path plan based on direct sensor input for fabrication processes such as polishing, grinding, welding, and assembly.
• Experience in industrial robotics, mobile robotics, 2D/3D computer vision, path and grasp planning for robotics, machine learning, perception/sensing for robotic guidance.
• Experience developing estimates for p&e, material and labor
• Strong mechanical & electrical aptitude
• Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Mfg
• Experience with connecting automation to line PLCs and MES, and building in error-proofing into manufacturing automation.
• Prior exposure to a job shop environment
• Strong project management skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Effective team player and facilitator
• Six Sigma training and experience
