Role Summary/Purpose

The Aero / Thermal Systems Propulsion Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In the Aero / Thermal Systems Propulsion Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the SPOCT (Systems, Performance, Operability, Controls and Transient Analysis) team supporting both Commercial and Military Next Generation engine architectures and current fielded products. This role will focus on the Operability and Transient Analysis responsibilities in SPOCT.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Aero / Thermal Systems Propulsion Engineer, you will:

·  Develop engines to meet the Operability requirements throughout the flight envelope

·  Analyze the surge / stall margin throughout engine development

·  Conduct stall testing in rigs, ground tests and flight engines

·  Lead audits of engine Operability, thrust response, starting and flameout

·  Analyze the aero / thermal impacts of operating in inclement weather

·  Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements

·  Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements

·  Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments

·  Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams

·  Mentor others in the organization

·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments

·  Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks

·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

·  Ability to work on government secured program with varying ranges of security clearance
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college

·  >Minimum of 5 years in an engineering role

·  Minimum of 3 years in gas turbine engineering position

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  Ability to obtain and/or maintain government security clearance
Desired Characteristics

·  Minimum of 5 years of experience in a gas turbine engineering position

·  1+ years of experience in Engine Operability

·  Proficiency in 2 or more of the SPOCT disciplines

·  Skilled in aircraft engine system design and integration

·  Skilled in the development and qualification process

·  Experience with aerodynamic compression components (Fan, Booster, Compressor)

·  Experience with gas turbine engine
performance cycle design and analysis

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Demonstrated cross functional team experience

·  Ability to influence others
