Job description

As an Application and DBA Support Engineer for the North America Federal Programs team located in Reston, you will perform tasks as a member of the Applications and DBA team of the matcher tier under the DHS HART contract. This team is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the matcher tier of the DHS-HART system. The ideal candidate will be technically skilled, well organized, detail oriented and possess excellent communication and personal interaction skills. You must be able to transfer or obtain and maintain a public trust clearance for the Department of Homeland Security. This position is contingent upon Gemalto Cogent winning, maintaining, or renewing a contract with our client(s).

A week in the life of an Application and DBA Support Engineer:
· You will coordinate O&M Effort with the Prime Contractor and Government customer.
· You will support a multi-terabyte Oracle 12c RAC database with Data Guard and Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
· You will ensure 24/7 availability, performance, backup, recovery and security of the database and applications.
· You will troubleshoot, isolate, and fix application and database production issues.
· You will design and implement database infrastructure, including performance monitoring, capacity planning, and automation of database related processes
· You will develop Oracle scripts, DBMS jobs, stored procedures and functions to replicate data to the backup databases and purge old data from log tables.
· You will work directly with customers and provide technical assistance and support when needed.
· You will determine and implement configuration changes to the matcher tier.
· You will assist Tier1 in addressing incidents.
· You will assist in the documentation of change requests.
· You will develop applications and utilities to augment the matcher tier applications.
· You will attend O&M Status meetings and telecom bridges.
· You will be part of Tier2/3 after hours support.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

· 
·  To succeed at this job, you must have: experience with Oracle 11g/12c RAC, ASM and Data Guard UNIX and Windows.
·  It would be preferred if you have proficiency in AIX/UNIX and Windows, familiarity with UNIX system administration, AWS, VMWare environments, experience in SQL, Java, C++, shell programming and .Net and familiarity with networking concepts.
·  You must be fluent in English.
·  We would like someone to join our team who is team-oriented, self-motivated, a strong written and verbal communicator, and willing to occasionally work beyond a 40 hour work week.
·  You must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
·  You must be a U.S. citizen to obtain public trust security clearance.
·  We are looking for someone with 2 – 5 years of experience providing Oracle DBA, application development or test support in either a Unix or Windows environment.
