The opportunity

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK Regulatory & Public Policy team in a analyst capacity to help deliver our EY response to the forthcoming Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) audit reform proposals focused on strengthening our UK corporate ecosystem which forms a part of a wider corporate governance and reporting framework that overseas large corporate entities while helping us shape the development of a new approach to the regulation impacting our audit profession and our firm’s engagement with our regulators.

 

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is currently responsible for promoting transparency and integrity in business, the FRC is the UK Competent Authority for audit and sets the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work. The FRC monitors and takes action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and operates independent enforcement arrangements for accountants and actuaries.

 

As the FRC continues to make progress on their journey towards becoming the Audit Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA) our engagement with the regulator will continue to increase to respond proactively to the various information requests and stakeholder engagement requirements to help set the agenda for the BEIS consultation. 

 

On the backdrop of the global pandemic the UK Regulatory and Public Policy team requires additional regulatory expertise to ensure that we are responding to the new and emerging regulatory requirements effectively and efficiently. 

 

Your key responsibilities

 

EY UK Regulatory Project Manager work closely with EY UK LLP Board and Regulatory and Public Policy team to;

1.            Manage and mitigate risk for EY in responding in a coordinated way to the various regulatory requests for information;

2.            Effectively deploy the regulatory stakeholder engagement framework by coordinating the EY UK LLP Board and other senior stakeholders, this includes coordinating the meetings and managing the records of engagement;

3.            Identify key findings and/or opportunities for EY to improve our current reporting requirements, produce monthly reports.

 

Skills and attributes for success

·  Work collaboratively with the internal EY stakeholders such as; Independence, PPD, Legal, BMC and Assurance to assist with the implementation and submission of the various regulatory Requests For Information (RFI);
·  Monitor, analyse and report relevant emerging regulatory changes and/or developments to the EY BEIS Steering Committee and EY FRC Account Governance team to ensure the firm understands the changing environment in which EY UK operates;
·  Horizon scanning – co-ordinate and consolidate all relevant documents on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to ensure new or emerging issues are picked up;
·  Maintain an updated tracker of public policy developments offering early indication for risks or opportunities;
·  Provide individual or collective support to the R&PP Directors and wider R&PP Team;
·  Leveraging the team’s collective knowledge, skills and expertise to produce credible, high quality outputs, including written and oral briefings.

 

To qualify for the role you must have

·  Strong project management skills, able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to complete tasks within required deadlines;
·  Awareness of the UK regulatory environment and the capital markets;
·  Ability to assimilate complex information and identify themes;
·  Ability to learn quickly about new topics and develop expertise;
·  Excellent written and oral communication skills;
·  Excellent IT skills (particularly Excel and Word)
