Job Summary:

The new Global Strategy Group (GSG) led by the Global Vice-Chair of Strategy will play a critical role in helping EY achieve its ambition.   The GSG is driven by the following principles:

The Global Strategy Team will primarily consist of four inter-related functions:

1.  Strategic intelligence: analyzing macro trends; market definition, size, and growth; and competitive positioning that affect EY’s market opportunity across all of its different areas of business
2.  Portfolio management and capital allocation: developing ongoing processes and supporting business analytics that monitor EY’s business portfolio, identify any adjustments that need to be made, and help to prioritize areas of strategic investment (or divestment) for the firm

3.  Strategy execution: assisting leadership in defining a shared set of execution priorities globally and within each of the Areas and Service Lines; working with business leaders across the firm to assess and support high-quality execution of those priorities; and driving strategic initiatives selected by the GE that require special attention or cross-functional collaboration
4.  Corporate development: developing an acquisition strategy in line with the firm’s strategic priorities; ensuring capital allocation is consistent with those priorities; and driving robust deal execution and post-acquisition reviews

 

This role will work closely with the Global PMCA Leader and Global PMCA Senior Analyst and will focus on (1) monitoring / evaluating EY’s business portfolio (sub-service lines, regions, etc.) across various dimensions (growth, profitability, etc.) and (2) ensuring that investment is allocated in a manner aligned to EY’s strategic priorities. 

Essential Functions of the Job:

  The Global Strategy PMCA Analyst will work alongside the Global PMCA leader to:

· 
Support execution and development of a framework and processes for evaluating and analyzing EY’s business portfolio across a comprehensive set of performance metrics; provide recommendations based on this analysis on prioritized areas of growth and investment

· 
Facilitate oversight of a process (i.e. Capital Edge) that will guide and track investments needed to execute EY’s strategic priorities

·  With Finance and Markets, support execution and maintenance of a long-range financial planning model that can be used to evaluate various portfolio, investment and capital decisions
· 
Assist in enablement and alignment of Global PMCA processes with the annual integrated planning cycles, including design, implementation and integration across processes such as Market Leadership Planning, Market Segment Execution Plan (MSEP), Account Planning, Revenue Planning, Financial Plan and Talent Planning

·  Further collaboration with Service Line and Area Strategy Execution Offices and PMCA Area Managers to ensure that Area portfolio and investment decisions are aligned to global priorities and cascaded into annual business planning processes

Applies in-depth knowledge of the business, resources, leveraging relationships, communications and operational effectiveness to complex projects and initiatives.

Makes key decisions and suggestions (with appropriate input) based on a solid understanding of firm and business objectives, identifies and produces needed analysis, and builds and procures appropriate professional experience/knowledge

The individual should be able to Identify creative alternatives, digging into issues to surface core pain points, and being persistent is a core requirement for this role

· 
Articulates a clear vision, create and drive a project plan, and direct action with tact and diplomacy.

· 
A high level of complex, conceptual problem-solving ability, a wide sphere of influence and a broad-based network are expected.

Supervision Responsibilities:
· 
The postholder will report to the Global Strategy PMCA Leader and will be expected to work with minimal supervision and direction

· 
There is no formal requirement to undertake direct supervision of other team members, though they may need to direct and influence other members of PMCA pillar and other EY Strategy team members through project work

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
· 
Financial modeling skills and experience, including overseeing teams responsible for business portfolio management, capital allocation and investment decision making related processes

· 
Deep understanding of EY’s organizational and operational structure, including deep knowledge of key business processes is preferred

· 
Strong executive presence and presentation skills; ability to respectfully challenge and influence senior leaders  

· 
Excellent business and industry knowledge for contextual knowledge of what is needed to drive successful business portfolio and investment management processes

· 
Strategic thinking skills, which allow the application of areas of knowledge to extrapolate future trends and patterns that may impact EY or the client(s)

· 
Ability to make timely decisions and translate strategy into action

· 
Ability to collaborate & influence; able to facilitate alignment without compromising principles

· 
A high level of complex, conceptual problem-solving ability

Other Requirements:
· 
Flexibility is needed in order to connect and work with others given that we are a distributed business and often work across time zones and across national borders and language lines.

· 
Some overtime may be required to meet deadlines

·  Minimal travel may be required.

Job Requirements:
Education:
· 
Undergraduate/University degree in fields such as finance, economics, accounting, operations management or operations research. 

· 
Advanced degree in business preferred but not required

 
Experience:
· 
7-10 years of experience – some of that experience in management consulting or corporate strategy is preferred

· 
Experience in business portfolio management, capital allocation and investment decision making related processes preferred
