EY Managed Document Review (MDR) forms part of EY’s Forensic Technology and Discovery Services (FTDS) business unit. The team act on a variety of matters ranging from internal investigations, cross-border litigation and arbitration cases, and worldwide regulatory investigations. Comprising of leading professionals in the areas of Law and Technology, the team form an integral part of EY’s eDiscovery service offering.

The opportunity
The Managed Document Review (MDR) Manager is a specialized engagement-chargeable role that functions as an integral team member supporting MDR. You will manage document review and will have direct client contact. You will perform, coordinate and help manage areas of responsibility while interfacing regularly with clients and their counsel. Your specific activities may vary based on the needs of the engagement which means you will have a flexible and deep knowledge to contribute to document review and related tasks.
 
 
Your key responsibilities:
The MDR Manager’s essential responsibilities may include:
·  Liaising with clients, in-house counsel, external legal teams, witnesses, other experts, police, criminal prosecutors and regulatory enforcers
·  Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between management team, QC team and first-level reviewers, ensuring that the requirements of the project are met
·  Prepare documentation needed for project support, including project specifications, review manuals, reports, and perform final quality checks before the deliverable is sent to the client
·  Monitor daily activity, provide status reports, and conduct daily briefings
·  Performing QC/QA of first level review performed by contract attorneys
·  Performing additional review services, including tasks related to fact development, witness kit and deposition preparation, and other forms of review conducted by the MDR team
·  Performing data and review analytics and search analysis on datasets before and during first level review, including assisting in the development and deployment of Technology Assisted Review protocols for MDR projects
·  Assisting in the identification, vetting, onboarding and training of contract attorney reviewers
To qualify for the role you must have:
·  Qualified lawyer with experience of working in an established law firm or in-house legal department,
·  Licensed to practice law and in good standing preferably within the jurisdiction in which they are working
·  Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing large document review teams, preferably utilizing platforms such as Relativity
·  Experience in managing quality control process for document review projects
·  Working knowledge of litigation technology, including key applications, databases and programs such as Relativity
·  Strong organization, attention to detail, prioritization, project management and customer service skills
·  Effectively coordinate simultaneous projects and prioritize multiple tasks, including multi-location coordination
·  Meet tight deadlines, perform high quality work and apply diligence to follow up
·  Effectively summarize and conclude on work, applying appropriate documentation standards
·  Ability to quickly learn and master use of intermediate functions of firm standard and service-line specific software applications and databases, e.g., MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, Relativity (kCura)
Ideally, you’ll also have:
·  Reading proficiency in a foreign language preferred, but not required
·  Project management skills, including experience in developing management reports, processes and systems that produce predictable results on time and on budget for large complex projects
·  Strong communication and interpersonal skills required for providing guidance and feedback to review and QC teams
