Experienced Consultant Financial Accounting Advisory Services – Insurance

The EY FSO FAAS team is helping our clients within the financial sector deal with regulatory and accounting changes.  

In order to strengthen our growing practice in Belgium, we are looking for an experienced consultant to work on diverse projects, who will:
·  Advise financial institutions on the practical implementation of new accounting and regulatory standards in the insurance sector
·  Provide added-value insights to our clients in matters related to financial accounting and its impact on accounting and reporting processes, systems and controls. 
·  Combine technical accounting expertise with insights from the our Assurance, Advisory, Transactions and Tax departments.

Your responsibilities:
·  Provide accounting analyses
·  Participate to IFRS conversations or implement new accounting standards
·  Improve the accounting and reporting processes
·  Develop internal control frameworks for the finance departments of our clients
·  Contribute to delivery of implementation projects, and investigation and resolution of technical accounting issues
·  Conduct analyses on accounting policies applied in financial statements
·  Research technical issues and the production of briefing papers for clients and internal staff
·  Provide technical advice to ad-hoc queries from clients and internal staff as needed
  As an experienced Consultant we expect  you to work effectively as a team member, coach junior staff, and  build good relationships with client personnel. Depending on your experience and future ambitions, we will give you the opportunity to play an active client-facing role

To qualify for the role you must have
·  Between 2 - 7 years of relevant experience, with solid technical accounting expertise
·  Knowledge of IFRS, FINREP/COREP, Solvency II in the insurance sector is a must
·  Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail
·  Solid communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
·  Ability to translate complex topics into clear, comprehensible communication to a broad audience
·  Fluent in Dutch and English, with a solid understanding of French
