2018 September Intake - EY Business Apprenticeship – Business Consulting Remediation - Financial Services

  • Apprenticeship
  • London (Greater London)
  • Accounting / Management control

Job description

Is fairness important to you? Do you see both sides of a story?

As a customer when things go wrong you want to know that a company will do all that it can to keep their promises and fix the situation for you.

This is called remediation and it’s why our team exists. If you believe in a world where companies treat customers fairly, this apprenticeship could be right for you.

What you’ll be doing

As an apprentice in Business Consulting at EY, you’ll help financial services companies (like banks, insurers and wealth managers) play to the rules set out by the industry’s regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority.

Every project is unique, so there’s plenty of variety. There are different stages of the remediation process and you’ll get to work on all of them: from helping clients understand if there’s a real problem, to setting up new teams to fix it, to making recommendations that help individual customers who’ve been treated unfairly.

Day to day, you’ll be doing things like:

·  Designing ways to capture information and analysing data so business leaders can make good decisions
·  Investigating a financial product to decide whether it was mis-sold or not
·  Reviewing customer records to understand what happened and if the client did the right thing at the right time
·  Calculating how much compensation customers are owed or contacting them so they understand what’s happened and how we’re putting it right

Whether a project affects thousands of customers or just one, the best part is seeing your work make a real difference.

How we’ll develop you

From day one, you’ll earn a competitive salary and, better still, we’ll fund and support you to get professionally qualified. This includes exam-based qualifications to build your knowledge of the financial services industry, as well as assessment-based ones to give you the leadership and management skills you’ll need to develop a fantastic career with us.

Along the way, we’ll make sure you’re always learning through training courses and shadowing experienced team members. You’ll also get to know your career counsellor – a mentor who’ll help you discover your strengths and helps you grow in your career.

What we’re looking for

If you’re interested in financial services and helping customers get a fair deal, that’s the first sign we could be a great match. Beyond that, you’ll bring a positive attitude to everything you do. You’ll be hard working, able to work independently when needed and have a great eye for detail.

You don’t need any prior technical experience or qualifications. Bring determination, ambition and energy and we’ll teach you the rest.

To be eligible for the EY Business Consulting Apprenticeship, you should be studying towards, or have attained, three A-levels/five Scottish Highers or equivalent. You also need a Level2/GCSE qualification in English and Maths.
