Job description

EQUANS are recruiting for a Sustainability Advisor to be based in Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The main purpose of the role is to provide support and guidance to the Sustainability Team and our key clients / stakeholders on the effective integration of new technologies and systems into buildings from an end user perspective.

Lead on training opportunities.

Analysis of housing stock data to identify opportunities for energy efficiency works.

Provide advice and assistance to the site teams in relation to all aspects of Sustainability.

Research and introduce innovative technology manufacturers and suppliers to our Commercial Lead for inclusion in our Supply Chain

Support in delivering education on Sustainability to our clients and the wider community

Champion emissions reductions within our Manchester Office and North East Colleagues.

Lead on the development of Health & Wellbeing and Fuel Poverty and other social value models for Sustainability

Key Accountabilities

·  Development of a Client well-being and health model and other social value models for Sustainability
·  Development and management of departmental Key Performance Indicators.
·  Understand & apply the range of current and proposed UK sustainability related legislation to project solutions
·  Provide innovative practical solutions for retrofit and renewable opportunities
·  Development of end user facing processes and literature to support an exceptional end user journey
·  Provide ongoing advice and support to the Compliance Manager and project teams on the identification of new opportunities.
·  Assist with the marketing and communications NE/Cumbria Sustainability Services.
·  Assisting internal project teams with the delivery of energy efficiency and microgeneration works.
·  Support technical proposals to outline energy efficiency solutions for clients.
·  Maintain a wide knowledge and understanding of the sector and pass this knowledge into the Business Unit region.
·  Assist the Bid/Estimating Teams in the production of tender submissions.
·  Assist with the collation of relevant data and the preparation of reports to track the performance of energy efficiency schemes.
·  Maintain effective client mapping, trackers, and metrics/analytics
·  Keep up to date with new and cutting-edge developments in the fields of sustainability and environmental management, ensuring effective communication within EQUANS.
·  Provide ongoing technical advice and support to the Sustainability Manager and project teams on the identification of new opportunities. Assist with the collation of relevant data and the preparation of reports to track the performance of energy efficiency schemes.
·  Client interaction as required (through reporting, training and briefings).
·  Any other reasonable management request.

Who are we looking for?


·  Experience within environmental/sustainability site delivery from a resident perspective
·  Prior experience of Social housing sector or Local Authority
·  Understanding of Low carbon and energy efficiency technologies
·  Knowledge of the Energy Sector.
·  Understanding of current and proposed UK sustainability related legislation to project solutions (Building regulations, Local Planning Policy, Zero Carbon and any future regional plans).
·  Ability to balance commitments to the environment with the need to be corporate and business minded
·  Ability to build relationships with a range of people, such as project managers and contractors
·  Flexibility to work under pressure, responding to changing legislation and project and programme demand
·  Understanding of and interest in sustainability and innovations in the Built environment
·  Relevant experience of working as part of a team
·  Providing proactive support to operational business units.
·  Relevant construction sector experience, preferably housing
·  Knowledge of an ISO14001, ISO 16001 and similar systems
·  Ability to work remotely
·  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Including Report Writing
·  Good at developing relationships with Operational leadership and site teams
·  Proven written communication skills
·  Good level of numeracy
·  Computer literate in MS Office

·  City and Guilds Level 3 award in Energy Awareness
·  City and Guilds level 2 awards in Fuel Debt advice in the Community
