Global Energy Management (GEM)  is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

GEM manages one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe, including electricity, natural gas, bulk commodities and environmental products.

With 5 trading platforms and activities in more than 50 countries, GEM has an extended geographical coverage in Europe, Asia-Pacific and in the US. It employs 1,300 people around the world.

Context:

The origination department is in charge of the commercial activities related to external clients.  

Today GEM covers a large variety of commodities, and is intending to develop following businesses:  

• Upstream gas activity in Northern Europe 
• Downstream gas activity in Central and Eastern Europe 
• Weather Derivatives activity in Western Europe  

To help on the development of these activities, GEM is hiring an intern for a 4 to 6-month period in Paris La Défense from January 1st 2020. The trainee will be immersed in the Trading Floor environment. 

 

Main Activities:

·  Direct contribution to daily weather deal management by: 

- Monitoring weather and commodities exposures and booking in trading portfolios. 

- Supporting the Scheduling team in the nomination process.  

·  Direct contribution to daily Upstream/Downstream gas portfolio management by: 

- Monitoring and booking of production/sales forecasts 

- Developing tools for contracts and market positions monitoring 

- Hedging the resulting positions in the gas markets via Trading team 

- Supporting the Scheduling team in the nomination process.

Education and professional background:

Master degree in business school 

Hard skills:

The candidate should be attending his/her first or second year in an engineering/business school.  Excellent command in Excel/VBA. 

Knowledge of energy commodities markets would be much appreciated.

Soft skills:

The candidate must be rigorous, have sound analysis, modeling and information structuring skills.

Languages:

The candidat must be Fluent in English and French.
