ENGIE are recruiting for a Solutions Architect to be based in North Tyneside Council, Quadrant East, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside, NE27 0BY.

This is a permanent, full time role working 37.5 hours a week, Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm and on offer will be a salary of £45,000 - £65,000 dependent on skills and experience.  This role will report into the Head of Digital Strategy.

The main duties and responsibilities are:

·  In conjunction with the Head of Digital Strategy, acts as the Technical Design Authority
·  Uses the appropriate design standards, methods and tools, consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensures they are applied effectively
·  Designs infrastructure solutions as part of wider projects: carry out detailed design for areas of own expertise and contribute to overall design and integration of the wider solution
·  Provides guidance to the development team during the systems development life cycle
·  Ensure designs are aligned with the enterprise architecture principles
·  Directly influence the change budget for future ICT capital investment 
·  Develop transformational roadmaps across one or more system or technology domains, defining activities, investments and decisions required to deliver against the target state over a 3-5 year timeframe
·  Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including supplier management
·  Define product and interoperability standards and best practice for one or more domains in alignment with architecture frameworks
·  Proactively takes responsibility, owns any issues arising, and follows through to resolve them
·  Works collaboratively with a range of people to support the wider business agenda
·  Always remains focused on the most critical / impactful task to hand using all resources efficiently and effectively
·  Proactively identifies areas for improvement, shares lessons learnt with colleagues and encourages others to do the same
·  Evaluates impact analysis on major design options and assesses and manages associated risks
·  Controls the quality of the infrastructure design and implementation work of both internal and external suppliers to ensure the required design is implemented
·  Develops the technical capability within the organisation

Qualifications and experience required:

·  Understanding and ideally experience in agile delivery within an overall architectural framework
·  Experienced in a structured design environment and the typical risks that must be managed
·  Ideally, Enterprise Architecture professional qualifications, with knowledge and active use of industry frameworks and tools, e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, Abacus
·  Experience in driving and delivering technological change 
·  Skilled and knowledgeable across architectural areas comprising Application, Technology and Solution domains ,  Microsoft, SaaS/PaaS approaches, analytics
·  Strong ability to write, guide and review  design documentation and test plans 
·  Appreciation and understanding of local government applications.  (the Council’s existing capability is listed , though experience in equivalents will also be valuable)
·  Service applications: Housing, Revenues & Benefits, Social care, Planning, Leisure etc. (currently largely Northgate, Liquid Logic, IDOX, Uniform, Horizons)
·  Customer service applications (e.g. Lagan)
·  Finance/ERP/HR applications (Oracle eBusiness Suite, ASH)
·  Good understanding of security, identity and authorisation requirements including around Government protective marking, General Data Protection Regulation, handling of sensitive data, standards such as ISO27000 and techniques such as SAML2.0
·  At minimum, a good understanding of, and ideally direct experience of operations , design and delivery of a range of the following technologies and techniques
·  Advanced knowledge of Windows Server Family and Features
·  Virtualisation Technologies, administration and management (VMware)
·  SAN Configuration, administration and management
·  Firewall administration and management (Nokia Checkpoint  &  Juniper)
·  Citrix Server and Remote access products (Presentation 4, XenApp, Access Gateway)
·  Veritas Backup Exec administration and management.  Enterprise Class backup solutions
·  Appreciation for  Microsoft Enterprise Product family (SCCM, SCOM, OCS, Exchange 2010, Forefront family)
·  Appreciation of moves towards web-based delivery of applications (SaaS/PaaS) including Google Apps for Work/Office 365 type systems.
·  Understanding and ideally experience in the deployment of cloud and hybrid cloud environments 
·  Data Centre Management, monitoring and capacity planning solutions and technologies
