Engie are recruiting for a Security Officer to be based in University Hospital of North Durham DH15TW. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week (days nights and weekend rota covering 24/7 ). On offer is a salary of £16,986 per annum plus shift allowance £366 per month.. The role holder will report to the Security Supervisor
• Carry out necessary security tasks, both planned and reactive and any other sites assigned by the Security Supervisor.
• Ensure that all procedural security requirements are met, if not exceeded, regarding the client’s assets and occupants on site.
• Ensuring that H&S demands are observed and complied with at all times.
• Ensuring that all security procedures are adhered to by all persons using the premises.
• To operate the CCTV system if need be and report any faults in the prescribed format (procedural).
• To maintain a high profile presence of the function at all times with regard to the client, visitors and contractors.
• To present himself/herself in all circumstances as a confident, reliable, trustworthy and highly professional member of Engie function.
• To produce regular update reports to the Security Duty Supervisor on the function and related issues.
To undertake regular internal and external foot patrols of the hospital site to: • Deter criminal activity against Trust property, staff, patients and visitors.
• Detect criminal activity against Trust property, staff, patients and visitors.
• Reassure staff, patients and visitors that there is a security presence.
• Detect, resolve and report security breaches, such as insecure buildings, departments etc.
• Detect, resolve and report health and safety hazards.
• Detect, resolve and report fire hazards, e.g. blocked fire exits, escape routes.
• Provide routine assistance and guidance to patients and visitors To provide emergency response to incidents on Trust premises, including but not restricted to: • Assaults on staff
• Fighting between patients or visitors
• Assisting the prison service (escorting only) with violent prisoner’s cat A on hospital premises
• Public disorder
• Verbal abusive and threatening behaviour
• Threats with weapons (monitoring and emergency service calls)
• Thefts
• Criminal damage
• Provide covert or overt security presence for wards and departments where there is warning of potentially violent behaviour by staff, patients or visitors on UHND premises.
• To aid the Psychiatric Liaison Team specifically in A & E, but generally throughout UHND
• To carry out lock-ups of all main building entrances at night and to unlock in the morning.
• To respond to intruder alarm system
• To liaise with the local police as required

• Adherence to all Service Level Agreements as introduced by the business. This involves responding to incidents in set SLA time periods in a fast paced physically demanding position.
