The Role: Project Management, Advisor (Distributed Solar)


Purpose
The Project Management Advisor is a member of ENGIE North America’s (ENA) Solar Tech Services team. This position serves several purposes including project management and training of project managers, field quality audits, safety program strategy, and contributes to the team labor sourcing and estimating efforts. The Project Management Advisor is a team wide resource for preconstruction planning, and individually manages installation of solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems.

This individual’s primary function is to ensure all projects under his or her assignment are built to spec, operate as designed, meet budget and schedule, all while enforcing safety requirements and meeting ENGIE’s safety expectations. The Project Management Advisor takes ownership of the project after client agreement execution and site control and becomes the main information resource for the client until the system is ready for the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase. This individual handles challenges and understands the technical aspects of the system designs, while confirming projects are assembled per the engineered drawings and specifications. The Project Management Advisor will be assigned to multiple projects simultaneously. Other responsibilities include staff coaching, field quality and safety audit, and preconstruction strategy.

Essential Job Functions
·  Capable of managing multiple large-scale, complex projects simultaneously.
·  Oversees and advances portfolio of projects during development/sales process, through construction, and until O&M handover. Stages of PM involvement include sales and development, engineering, procurement, interconnection & permitting, subcontract negotiations, construction, and commissioning.
·  Audit ENA employees and contractors to ensure all parties are adhering to the company’s safety plan and guidelines on an active site.
·  Creates project schedules. Tracks and analyzes progress and milestones. Ensures contractual deadlines are met and required documentation is filed.
·  Provide regular status reports to clients and other external parties as necessary.
·  Ensures that all installations meet ENA plans and specifications, permitting and interconnection requirements, and client expectations.
·  Ensures all projects adhere to requirements listed in applicable legal agreements.
·  Tracks and analyzes project construction budgets.
·  Analyzes project designs and reviews project budgets. Cites any issues with the budgets and seeks correction, prior to installation.
·  Deliver industry leading customer service to ENA clients.
·  Travel to active sites to witness and partake in key milestones such as mobilization, building de-energizing & tie-in (if commercial-type project), and electrical testing & commissioning. Depending on project size and scope, semi-frequent visits to sites to ensure progress and quality.
·  Coordinates all necessary internal and external parties necessary to achieve project requirements and deliverables.
·  Oversees permitting process and interconnection agreement negotiation. Ensures project construction complies with permits and interconnection agreements. Delivers drawing sets to contractors.
·  Assists, and is main point of contact for, installers and contractors. Responds to requests for information from contractors.
·  Works with procurement department to ensure materials are procured and shipped as scheduled, and to secure contractor services.
·  Provides mentorship and guidance to other project management staff.
·  Contributes to successful delivery of portfolio via preconstruction planning and process optimization.
·  Assists Quality and Procurement team with equipment and labor sourcing strategy, preconstruction estimating, design and installation quality.
·  Create team-wide safety initiatives, safety training program assessment and improvement, dedicated field safety audits and on-site training.

Requirements

·  Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Power Point
·  Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
·  Experience within the renewable energy or power systems industries is preferred.
·  Working knowledge of the NEC code and AC/DC electrical systems design is preferred
·  Proficient with Customer Resource Management (CRM) software is preferred
·  Must hold a valid driver’s license
·  Travel required (up to 50%)

Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
·  Physically able to walk length of entire ground mount site where ground may be rocky or uneven. Able to climb a ladder in excess of 30 feet. Able to work at ground level or on roof for extended periods of time in hot or cold weather conditions.

Education/Experience

·  Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or related area, or equivalent work experience in the renewable energy or construction industry
·  Minimum 7 years’ experience in a project management, construction management, power gen asset operations, or engineering role.
