The Role: Project Developer (Solar)


Purpose

ENGIE North America is committed to reshaping the energy future through the global implementation of a lower carbon energy economy in order to preserve the world's natural resources. We are looking for talented and driven people who are committed to making the vision a reality.
The Project Developer will develop ENGIE Distributed Solar's project portfolio across the United States through identification of suitable sites, zoning, permitting and negotiating transactional documents. This individual will also focus on leading development through forging relationships with landowners, community leaders, utilities and environmental organizations.

Essential Job Functions

·  Manages development activities of solar energy projects from feasibility to the start of construction
·  Manages the zoning, permitting, land rights entitlements and compliance processes
·  Develops new opportunities for the acquisition, co-development or green field development of new distributed ground mount solar projects
·  Identifies and evaluates suitable sites, structure and negotiates commercial transactions with landowners
·  Engages with landowners, community leaders and environmental organizations to provide information throughout the development process
·  Select, manage, and direct third party consultants and development partners
·  Develops viable and economically sustainable new and existing solar projects
·  Develops target scope of work, defines and manages project development schedules and budgets
·  Ensures adherence to quality and environmental regulations
·  Represents ENGIE in industry advocacy groups and educates communities on the benefits of solar.
·  Supports PPA Negotiations
·  Supports or leads negotiation of wide range of other commercial contracts required for completing development of solar projects
·  Opportunistically source and evaluate project acquisition targets

Requirements

·  Skilled in project management with the ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks.
·  General understanding of renewable energy market trends and the resulting impacts on solar project development.
·  Results-oriented professional with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups.
·  Self-motivated and able to work effectively individually as well as with a team
·  Ability to thrive in quickly changing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
·  Demonstrates cross-disciplinary competencies
·  Builds external relationships
·  Manages risk effectively and efficiently

Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
·  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
·  Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
·  Could involve some lifting.

Education/Experience

·  Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Economics preferred
·  Minimum of 2 years' development related experience; preferably in solar or renewable energy

Additional Notes

·  Must hold a valid driver's license
·  Travel required (up to 50%)
