ENGIE are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Shift Technician to be based at Whitehall in Westminster (London SW1A 2HB). This is a permanent and full-time role which involves working days 4 days on 4 days off including day and nights. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The Multi Skilled Shift Technician will work for a prestigious long term energy supply contract in London. This site involves the supply of heat and electricity to a range of consumers in London from two energy centres. The Technician will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the district heating scheme and assisting with the maintenance of electrical generation distribution equipment when required, which consists of large scale High Temperature Hot Water boilers and 11kV electrical generating plant.

Main Responsibilities

Perform preventive, predictive and repair maintenance work tasks on plant equipment

Responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient operation of the plant equipment

Diagnose equipment problems, report abnormal conditions to management

Inspect plant and equipment, including carrying out scheduled plant checks; ensure maintenance requests are completed to a satisfactory standard

Maintain Operations, Maintenance and HS&E documentation and records to the highest standard

Master a shift turnover process to ensure a seamless transfer of information to the oncoming shift

Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance skills required to perform duties and assist in the training of others

Required to work shifts (days and nights, 4 on and 4 off)

Perform other tasks as directed by management - this may include occasional works at other locations.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience


A BTEC, City and Guilds, HND, HNC, or equivalent in an engineering discipline

Mechanical systems qualifications and experience (high pressure systems qualifications preferable)

Electrical Systems qualifications and experience

Knowledge and experience in managing HV distribution systems and associated HV safety document control systems

Have a thorough understanding on Permit to Work Systems, and all other relevant Health and Safety requirements

Have a basic understanding of the supply contracts

Experience in large commercial / industrial boiler plant and associated equipment

Experience in confined spaces or willing to be trained in this aspect


High pressure systems qualifications

Experience in electrical generation

Experience in overhaul of pumps, valves and pipe work

Experience of CAFM systems for maintenance

Ability to work unsupervised and function as part of a team

Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word
