Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to be based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, LS23 7BQ. This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. This role will report in to the Maintenance Supervisor.

The shift pattern for this role will be Early (07:00hrs to 16:00hrs) and Late (09:00hrs to 18:00hrs) shifts Monday to Friday.

To provide the necessary technical support and assistance to supervisory staff, working an early/late Mon-Fri shift pattern. During the day this position is to attend to the site PPMs and reactive works as directed by the on-site supervisory staff. There is a callout rota which normally requires them to be available for 1 week in 8, but this varies depending upon holidays etc. There is some regular out of hours PPM tasks which attracts overtime.

This position has a direct impact on the service delivery for both ENGIE as a company and the British Library as a customer, direct day to day liaison with the Day supervisor and the other site engineers, Maintaining the required level of delivery on any task that you may be directed to, liaison and continued communication with the ENGIE Supervisor and other team members where required. The position requires that you may need to work on your own at times, The candidate will be required to undergo security clearance and be suitably fit to work and rescue from within a Reduced Oxygen Environment (14.8% O2 ) Confined Space.

The site is 42 acres and has over 20 buildings with varying levels of complexity, These systems range from simple air handling plant to automated control warehouse systems.

The Mechanical Technician will be expected to provide varying levels of assistance to the team during the busy working periods and shut down times of these critical systems.

Qualifications or Required Experience:  

·  Substantial experience in Building Services industry
·  Must have completed a full Apprenticeship
·  Preferably F-Gas/ODS or BESA qualified or with refrigeration experience.
·  Demonstrate a good understanding and be technically competent in all relevant building services, in particular water treatment, mechanical systems and controls, air conditioning and HVAC systems
·  Strong communication skills, the ability to deal with all levels of staff in difficult situations
·  Ability to escort and interact with suppliers and sub-contractors
·  Pro-active in achieving the highest standard of operation at all times
·  Have good IT skills, preferably with MS Word / Excel / Powerpoint
·  Simple report writing and document completion
·  Spares ordering / Obtaining Quotes
·  Supporting Small works projects and extra works delivery
·  Must be willing to be part of the callout rota
·  Must be willing to attend Medical & Fitness assessments for the reduced oxygen environments
