Keepmoat Regeneration are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in Glasgow G32 8ND. This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Thursday 8:00 - 17:00 and Friday 8:00 - 16:00. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package.

Purpose of the Role:

Support the Business in delivering the full suite of building services to help the Business deliver buildings for our Clients that are efficient, sustainable, comfortable to use and meet appropriate mechanical and construction safety regulations. Provide efficient and cost effective design and technical solutions to complex mechanical engineering issues. Assist in new work generation. Ensure that all systems are in place to ensure works are completed in accordance with the Company’s values. Continually promote the company image and develop new relationships with clients and consultants

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Partnerships, Major Projects, Sustainability and key OU negotiated:

·  Produce/assess mechanical design briefs / specifications
·  Produce/assess outline and detailed proposals for mechanical installations
·  Lead/co-ordinate mechanical design process with mechanical design staff/consultant/subcontractor
·  Review installation practices for key schemes / products
·  Ensure design is correct, cost effective and in line with budget
·  Support value engineering processes
Key and strategic bids:

·  Identify mechanical risks and opportunities
·  Assist, and by exception lead, Estimating pricing process
·  Liaise with Client’s technical officers and consultants
·  Support value engineering process at bid and pre-construction stage
·  Evaluate designs and mechanical subcontractor quotations and ensure tender conformity
·  Support quality responses, method statements and interview / presentation
·  Provide pre-construction support for OUs in appointment of mechanical subcontractor
Supply chain:

·  Support development of mechanical subcontractor supply chain
·  Liaise with manufacturers to identify opportunities for new products and/or scheme specific purchase deals
Accreditations:

·  Ensure key accreditations are maintained e.g. Microgeneration Certification Scheme, District Heating Consultant status, GasSafe
Research & Development:
·  Identify potential new working methods and products
·  Technical support for new products and initiatives e.g. off-site manufacture

What we are looking for:

Experience:

·  Extensive experience within the building services industry as a Mechanical Engineer (IEng/CEng preferred)
·  Experience of District/Communal Heating/Cooling systems
Skills:

·  Confident oral and written communication skills
·  Ability to analyse complex problems and assess possible solutions
·  Attention to detail
·  Commercial awareness
·  Communicate effectively with all stake holders
·  Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
·  Ability to negotiate and influence 
·  Mentor and support others
·  IT Literate
