Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for an IT Business Analyst to be based in Leeds (LS12 1BE). This is a permanent role which involves working full-time hours. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

Supports the Shaping, Initiation and Delivery phases of IT projects

Supports and provide IT input to bids/tender responses

Facilitates requirements conversations with Product Owners, Business and Delivery Teams

Documents IT system requirements (functional / non-functional)

Documents epics, features, user stories to support internal software development

Defines acceptance criteria for solutions

Documents IT and Business Processes

Works with stakeholders to prioritise requirements

Identifies risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and constraints to change

Undertakes impact, option and solution feasibility assessments

Supports creation of business cases and cost/benefit analysis.


Bachelor degree in an IT discipline, or equivalent through experience

Recognised BA qualification (e.g., ISEB / IIBA)

Knowledge and Skills

Strong communication skills to explain ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels in meetings/workshops and to accurately record agreed outcomes and ensure follow-up activity is tracked and completed

Ability to progress actions/issues and gain agreement/sign-off of ideas, solutions and deliverables

Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple parallel tasks

Process mapping (BPMN or similar), data modelling (ER Diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams), System Modelling (UML), requirements specification (User Stories, Functional Specifications), frameworks (Six Sigma, Zachman), web applications (HTML,.NET)

Working knowledge of the B2B or B2C Gas and Electricity industries


Proven experience of working as a Business Analyst (ideally 2/3 years) or similar within an IT or change function

Experience of working in an IT function with exposure to software development, hardware / cloud technology or other IT services

Experience of general IT concepts including programming (e.g., JavaScript and Python), database management (Oracle/SQL), hardware technologies, networking, system support, cloud (AWS / AZURE)

Experience of development and requirements management tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Team Services and MS applications including Office and Visio

Experience of agile ways of working (Lean, SCRUM, DSDM) and tools (e.g. Kanban) / ITIL
