The Role: Electrician I

Purpose

Responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems and equipment that can directly affect the safety and operation of the plant Operations for daily and outage related maintenance activities that will ensure efficient and cost-effective facility operations with compliance to all safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Job Functions

·  Maintain all Plant electrical equipment to the highest possible standard to maximize Plant availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability. 
·  Install, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on all Plant electrical components as assigned, including UPS/battery systems.
·  Perform routine and emergency Plant electrical troubleshooting and maintenance functions including, but not limited to motors, MCCs, relays, breakers, electrical disconnects of rotating machinery, high voltage circuitry in 480V and all electrical hand tools.
·  Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes.
·  Analyze electrical problems and take action to correct and advise supervisor when outside assistance from vendors, engineering contractors, and/or consultants is necessary.  In addition, must be able to assist with and, to the extent required, coordinate work of maintenance subcontractors with subcontractor supervision.
·  Install electrical conduit.
·  Maintain records of readings, test results, and data on all assigned equipment and during overhauls and preventive maintenance. 
·  Track performance, maintain history and assess condition (predictive maintenance) of Plant electrical equipment. 
·  Maintain and review such records and report findings as required.  Recommend equipment operating and/or maintenance changes, which will enhance unit operation and equipment availability. 
·  Assist with the electrical training for Plant personnel.
·  Coordinate daily work activities and equipment status with other Plant employees.
·  Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on equipment failures.
·  Assist with routine maintenance training and equipment operation training of other site employees.
·  Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the Plant in a clean and neat condition.
·  Perform all duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor to this position, but not specifically stated in this description.
·  Maintain confidentiality of all information available to the position.
·  Acts as a team member with all employees of ENGIE staff.
·  Complies with all ENGIE policies and procedures.

 

 

Requirements

·  Thorough knowledge of all plant systems and understanding of process diagrams, simple electrical diagrams and operating instructions.
·  Ability to use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations.
·  Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and take direction from others.
·  Ability to work overtime, as well as, any schedule including nights and weekends.

Essential Physical Abilities

·  Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
·  Regularly required to use hands and arms to touch or feel, and use tools.
·  Frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
·  Occasionally required to climb or balance.
·  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
·  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
·  Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.

 

Education/Experience

·  High School education or equivalent; Electronics or Industrial Trade school degree experience preferred.
·  Qualified Master Electrician with three years of work related experience (electrical power plant maintenance preferred).

Working Environment (Indoors – 20% Outdoors – 80%)
