Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for a Community Engagement Officer to be based in Salford. This is a permanent full time working 39 hours per week. On offer will be a competitive salary of £20,000 – £23,000 per annum. 

The role holder will liaise with Operational Teams to drive Best Practice in Community Engagement and Social Responsibility in connection with business activity.  Lead and support the successful production and delivery of a Community Benefits and Social Responsibility Plan, in order to release social and economical benefits to the residents of the communities that ENGIE works within and to support our client’s wider objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·  Provide Support on Local Training and Employment Initiatives - to lead on the delivery of our Training and Employment strategy and K.P.I. benchmarks, ensuring we maximise the opportunities that this will bring for Local People in terms of employment, training and positive life experiences.
·  Ensure correspondence is delivered in a timely manner, in line with our ENGIE communication processes.
·  Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of ENGIE’s Regional Community Benefit & Social Responsibility Plan.
·  Support the Operational teams to ensure that each of our clients benefit from a Local Community Benefit & Social Responsibility Plan and to ensure that all contractual / KPI requirements are fulfilled.
·  Ensure that the outcomes of each Local Community Benefit & Social Responsibility Plans are appropriately captured and reported on a monthly basis.
·  Supporting procurement by supporting the Bid Process and maximise internal and external marketing.
·  Support winning work activities through the production of best practice case studies and quality interview processes, as required.
·  Engage Central Marketing / PR function to promote outcomes of the Local Community Benefit & Social Responsibility Plans via Internal and External Marketing
·  Build and maintain effective and productive working relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside ENGIE to explore and develop opportunities to address deprivation, unemployment and regeneration in the neighbourhoods we work within through the creative use of partnership working; different funding streams and relevant community projects.  Attend Special Interest Groups where applicable.
·  Work closely with schools, colleges, community groups and 3rd Sector organisations within the region to maximise our Social Responsibility Activities within the communities we work, as well as maximising Social Value. 
·  Develop and nurture relationships with our client’s community teams. 
·  Production of a ‘Knowledge Bank’ of Community Benefits and Social Responsibility Best Practice and Research. 
·  Develop connections with other ENGIE regions to capture Best Practice and continuity.
·  Assist in the production of an Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
·  Explore, develop and facilitate opportunities relating to the delivery of successful social enterprise projects which could generate surpluses for the benefit of communities we work within.
·  Provide clear and timely strategic and operational performance information to relevant internal and external contacts. Ensuring the monitoring of and compliance with all targets relating to employment and training activities/community regeneration activities.

Previous Experience and Qualifications

·  High level of computer literacy in MS Office, (Word – Intermediate, Excel – Intermediate, Outlook – Intermediate and PowerPoint)
·  Competent, clear and concise writer
·  Good level of numeracy
·  Strong presentation skills
·  Good influencing skills
·  People management
·  Confident communicator able to communicate at all levels with the ability to talk to people of various educational, physical, social and ethnic backgrounds
·  Be reliable, confident and have a positive attitude
·  Strong verbal and written communicator
·  Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
·  Educated to degree level or equivalent through relevant training/experience
·  Experience of supporting operational teams
·  Sound knowledge of our client and their customer base
·  Able to have an in-depth overview of what is going on within the site teams with the ability to manage the issues rather than dealing with them personally
