Engie are recruiting for a Catering Assistant to be based in University Hospital North Durham North Road, Durham, County Durham, DH1 5TW. This is Zero Hours role working (at £7.90 per hour). The role holder will report to the Catering Manager to work within established catering routines using own initiative as appropriate in the provision of snacks and Beverages within the commercial restaurant. 

• To work within established catering routines using own initiative as appropriate in the provision of a cook chill service to patients.• The hygienic handling of food products in accordance with food hygiene legislation and the Trust/Company Food Safety Policy (HACCP).• Observation of statutory and Trust/Company food hygiene regulations.• Monitoring goods inward and undertaking food sample checks against delivery notes and report all variations• Taking and recording of food temperatures and seeking further instruction where these are outside of critical limits.• Management of food produce, all products in accordance with Engie Food Safety Management Systems and legislative standards.• Complete non-stock requisitions prior to authorisation to maintain required stock levels.• To be involved in the general cleaning following the appropriate cleaning schedules.• Storage and movement of food stores throughout catering services.• Appropriate disposal and recording of waste in accordance with instruction ensuring that wastage is kept to a minimum.• In times of commercial staff shortages, support will be required to replenish vending machines with assorted food / snack items, while ensuring that the equipment is clean & in good mechanical order. All mechanical breakdowns or damage must be reported to team leader / supervisor / line manager.• General cleaning of vending machines where appropriate, in accordance with appropriate cleaning schedule.• Assist in the recording, basic preparation & deliver of hospitality functions if required.• Monitor storage equipment and report all failures.• Maintain delivery records and liaise with catering admin.• Observe the quality control procedure within the Catering Department.• Complete/monitor all catering forms to support the HACCP analysis including delivery control forms.• To ensure stock control and rotation within the dry storage areas and of the kitchen refrigeration and freezer units• Ensure that a high standard of personal grooming is maintained including wearing the required uniform and PPE provided.• To take deliveries to the Restaurant when required.

•Level 2 Award in Food Safety
•Some till experience is preferable but not essential.
