ENGIE are recruiting for a Multi-Site Caretaker to work on our Bassetlaw Schools PFI contract.  This role will be based at Retford Oaks Academy, Babworth Road, Retford DN22 7NJ. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £18,000 per annum. 


Work patterns will vary, based on a 40 hour rotational shift system, alternating between 05:30hrs to 14:00hrs and 11:30hrs to 20:00hrs, with 30 minute unpaid lunch/breaks.  The role-holder must be prepared to work at other locations, depending on the business needs (all additional travel expenses will be covered).


Reporting to the Caretaking Services Supervisor, the role of Caretaker provides support across several education and leisure facilities where ENGIE provide services, such as: maintenance; cleaning; porterage and maintenance of external site, including preparations for seasonal changes to outside areas.  The Caretaker will be a key-holder and be expected to deliver the full range of caretaking maintenance and ad hoc cleaning duties, with responsibility for securing the site.  A keen eye for detail is essential, together with the ability to demonstrate practical knowledge of DIY skills.


Specific Responsibilities/Duties are to:


·  Promote good customer relationships
·  Continually monitor and audit to performance standards
·  Demonstrate a sound awareness and knowledge of Health & Safety
·  Be able to perform duties within scope of site and Company policies and procedures
·  Promote a value-for-money working ethic
·  Be able to act quickly and prioritise workloads, to avoid penalities for over-running allocated time thresholds
·  Be capable of identifying, removing or reducing risks
·  Process paperwork, documents for work orders and tasks
·  Be capable of administering the day to day maintenance of large, modern education buildings and leisure centres
·  Provide proactive communication with school / leisure representatives
·  Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) duties
·  Undertake reactive maintenance works
·  Manage stock and materials rotation, to meet the need for PPMs and core duties
·  Support emergency situations, such as fire evacuations, and operate a fire panel/system
·  Undertaking First Aid training
·  Deliver and record statutory testing, such as: emergency lighting, fire alarm tests
·  Undertake general caretaking core duties, including but not limited to: litter picking; removal of bodily fluid spillages; reactive cleaning; general maintenance, and porterage of curriculum materials around site.
·  Seek support from Supervisor, Managers, Technicians, with regard to complex problems/disputes and/or specialist equipment, i.e. electrical systems.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills / Personal Attributes:

·  Ability to demonstrate experience of practical maintenance skills, such as: joinery, decorating
·  Be physically fit, to enable such duties as: manual handling; working at heights; mobility around large sites, over various terrains
·  Good organisational and administrative skills
·  Good communication skills
·  Solid numeracy and literacy skills
·  Basic IT skills
·  Live within 20 mile radius of Retford/Worksop, in order to provide reactive and call-out cover
·  A flexible approach: willing to provide occasional overtime and weekend cover for lettings and additional school use
·  Consistently wear the uniform and personal protective clothing provided.
·  Be well-presented at all times
·  Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance is a prerequisite of this position.  (ENGIE will take up an enhanced DBS once an offer of employment is made).
·  A valid, UK driving licence.  (This role requires use of own vehicle to travel between sites, as required.  Travel expenses will be reimbursed).

·  All convictions, both current and past;
·  Cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer for England and Wales;
·  Relevant convictions in Scotland and Northern Ireland may be included.
·  Checks against the Children's and Vulnerable Adults' Barring List;
·  Additional checks for relevant information held by the local police forces for the position being applied for.
